Lets see if this correlates to on court production but as I and others guessed, he really REALLY wanted a change of scenery.

IMO another missed opportunity for the Pelicans.

My two year old daughter has more mental toughness than a dude that calls himself "dominayton"

She probably is in better health than half the Pelicans team in her two years of life too.

frick that guy, he’s a cancer for a team. We have a solid big man. JV gets a lot of shite on this board but he’s a damn good player who carried us several times last year.

I wonder what Phoenix is thinking next, they got off the Ayton contract, but got 3 guys you cant play in the playoffs in return. Nurkic will do well for them in the regular season, but he's unplayable in the playoffs.

And unless your name ends in Jokic, you can't win a title with your 5 making that much money.

I was worried about Portland until I heard Jrue was being rerouted. They'll score a lot of points but won't be impressive enough defensively to win much of anything.

Hope Zion dunks on Aytons old looking arse face

Ayton quit in the playoffs last season and he was going to keep pouting.

To you, anything any other team in the NBA does is a missed opportunity for the Pelicans despite whether realistic or not.

And who would you get rid of for Ayton?

There’s no missed opportunity if you don’t even have whats needed to get someone, and it seems Phoenix just wanted some salary cap relief and depth players which we couldn’t offer.

Ayton wanted to be somewhere that would allow him to be a focal point of the offense.

Portland would be it considering that Scoot is a rookie, Sharpe is only in his second year, and Grant et all are journeymen / role players.

Ayton wouldn’t have been happy here next to BI and Zion.

Real shame that we couldn't land that max player who lost minutes to Jock Landale last postseason.

Ayton was 21 and 12 per 36 last season.

Jval was a more efficient 20 and 15 per 36.

Jval gives his all 100% of the time. Ayton...well...does not.

Jval has 1 year left at $15 mil.

Ayton has 3 years left at $102mil.

I'll take Jval 100 out of 100 times over Ayton based on value/contract.

Exactly, it's well known that is one of the reasons he was unhappy there, so why in the world would 50T think Ayton would have been similarly happy if he were here?

To be fair I think the FO are below average and the reason I lack any optimism is because this team continues yearly to let down people and it seems as if quite a lot of you give blind hope to a situation that has not changed in 4 years.

Don’t get me wrong. I will be EXTREMELY happy here to be completely wrong. However, statistically the odds are on my side.

Ayton ate JV’s lunch in that playoff series or did you forget already?

To get a $30m/yr center who is no where near worth his salary?

Nah

Man Ayton clearly has talent but there are so many red flags

Red flag #1 - Ayton has clearly been unhappy for years even though his team was very good
Red flag #2 - He beefed with Monty Williams, who has a good reputation as a likeable guy and coach
Red flag #3 - Per Tim McMahon of ESPN, people in the Phoenix organization think Ayton more or less "opted out" of their elimination playoff game with his rib injury
Red flag #4 - the Suns just traded for a guy who is a talent and availability downgrade just so they could get Ayton out of their building
Red flag #5 - Beyond what has been reported, my amateur eye test tells me his effort/intensity clearly vacillates from game to game, quarter to quarter, play to play

That's a lot of red flags for a guy who is making 35 million a year and would move us further into a salary cap crunch. I mean, we're right at the luxury tax line as it is. You want to push all the proverbial chips in for THIS guy?
