Echelon Insights Poll: RFK Jr. Independent Run Hurts Biden, Helps Trump

Not "helping" much, but tie this in with Cornell West's Green Party run and things could get very tough for Dems next year.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. running as an independent 2024 presidential candidate would help former President Donald Trump and hurt President Joe Biden in the general election, a recent Echelon Insights survey found.
A preview of the survey shows Trump leading Biden in a head-to-head presidential matchup nationally, 46 percent to 43 percent — a three-point lead. In that scenario, 11 percent remain unsure for whom they would vote.
However, with Kennedy running as an independent candidate, Trump’s lead over Biden expands by one point, growing to four points — 40 percent to Biden’s 36 percent. Kennedy garners 14 percent support. In that scenario, ten percent remain unsure.

Another look at the survey’s cross tabs shows Kennedy ultimately taking 17 percent of Democrat-leaning voters while taking 11 percent among Republican-leaning voters. In other words, Democrats are more negatively affected by a Kennedy independent run than Republicans are.

Anybody who actually looks at Kennedy’s policy positions realizes that he’s very progressive. A moderate to right leaning Trump supporter would not be able to vote for Kennedy based on his positions. His only common point is his view on Vaccines. Vaccines are not a point of contention in this next election. That’s pretty much run it’s course at this point. Most people have moved on.
Kennedy helps Trump.
Kennedy helps Trump.

This. Once his full platform is out in the open, indys will sour on him. I actually like RFK Jr. because I think he's sincere about what he believes in, but I don't agree with just about anything he says (excluding vax).

I’ve been pretty surprised to see tons of Trump rallies in places I’d never expect to see them. Beverly Hills being one - and a strong showing to that rally as well.
Tons of black and Hispanic people on the gram saying (and seeing) the same. His support is there, but doesn’t matter if you’re not counting the votes

What's important aren't the polls themselves, but how they move over time (as long as the same methodology is used consistently).

West will be paid to go away.

That’s simply not accurate. For one, he is harshly and accurately critical of our weaponized government.

Objectively, I think (outside of a few old school Boomer dems who would reflexively vote for anyone from the Kennedy clan) that it will be much easier to pull a bunch of TDS folks to RFK than to break the Dem firewalls in the urban, coastal and "elite" areas. Now, having said that, I think RFK could make a difference in swing states like Wisconsin and Michigan.
Frankly, Cornell West is probably helping Trump more than Biden, so maybe it all comes out in the wash.

The ones downvoting your point here are spilled milk af. I get that RFKJr is charismatic, but like you said, unless our side truly IS brainless (like the left) they will NEVER be able to vote for that prog.

I think I've posted two polls in the last six months. There is a lot of discussion on the board about how RFK Jr.'s indy run might affect the race. How else would we analyze that at this point except with polling?
