If the Dems let student loan payments restart fully it's political suicide.

They'll have to do something right?

Not only will it piss off a majority of their base but most people are financially illiterate, especially those under 40. I would bet at least 60% of people with student loans did not save the money or make any payments these past 40 months. They have been putting that money into the economy in one way or another. The payments coming back fully will pull this shitty economy down even further.

They'll be able to blame Republicans now because of the budget deal.

A lot of people who own a lot of this debt are barely scraping by with credit cards due to inflation. Add student loan payments back and you’ve got a time bomb. FTR, I do support restarting payments. It’s a bandaid that needs to be ripped off.

That'll be the plan even though Biden's admin gave the ok to restart the payments.

Please.

For the Republican Party , this is the 209th attempt at suicide. Only, they wish to survive, while killing us.

I never stopped paying my monthly student loan bill. Especially when there is no interest.

Their base maybe stupid enough to buy this. They'll blame conservatives for the 10-20k forgiveness getting shot down too when it was political show.

The president doesn't have the authority make financial decisions. Financials fall to congress. They didn't even try to get a bill started. They went for the executive order that they knew would get overturned in the courts.

But Why. I'm not a fan of giving the government free money

People went out and bought cars and stuff over the past 2 years that they normally would have been paying towards student loans.

It’s not being forgiven so making payments where 100% goes to principal isn’t an awful idea for someone who wants to get out of debt

well there is no guarantee these payments ever actually start back up again. It would be a political disaster for whoever lets that happen. Until it actually does you'd be crazy to make any payments. You'd be way better off at least setting the payments aside and collecting some interest on that money instead of the government

Not a single Dem voter who is impacted by ending the student loan pause is going to vote Republican as a result. Zero.

Are you new to this? Uniparty politicians need student loan payments to exist so they can run on student loan forgiveness. This is what uniparty politics is. Promise shite you never plan to do so you can run on the same promises next election and the idiots in this country never get the wiser.
