I have family with plenty of land. Wondering if it would be cost-effective to just buy a calf, raise it, then have it slaughtered and butchered.

A couple times a month I would buy a bag salad and get the cheapest piece of beef I could find.. cook it put on the salad. That cheap piece would cost about $3-$5.00.. Now that cheap piece of meat is $8.00+..

That must be the Ranchers Choice brand they carry. Those are Mexican cows.

Very lean and tough meat.

That 6.8% inflation rise in prices is bs. A lot of items have been reduced in size content - not packaging - to hold the price the same. You can bet it's running about 25-30%.

We’re going to serve venison tenderloin that my 10 year old shot this year for Christmas.

Last year was able to get a couple of hogs for free as the farmers culled their hogs. Didn’t have a hook up for beef but we have a freezer full of pheasants salmon, striped bass and red fish.

For now. There use to slaughter houses every 20 miles apart; no more, but they'll likely come back. But if this trend holds, there will be a 'Head Tax' on meat animals in the near future. Bet the farm on it.

Picked up a standing rib roast last week at Publix for $6.79/lb.

Huge sale, marked down from over $15/pound.
