Theater but only because the woman’s voice was annoying.

Theater.

Director's Cut is a wholly different movie for about all the second half.

Both are really good with vastly different tones.

Why would they cut it like that?

Kristofferson was added later to replace Kellerman (who did the voice in the DC).

Theater cut. There's no telling how many times I've seen that movie. Once it hit hbo or whatever channel it first came on, either my uncle or cousin taped it for either me or my dad or both. Once I decided I liked it, that vhs lived in my room the rest of its days

Payback is, literally, one of the most underrated movies ever. I've fought this war for 10+ years on here

Fantastic movie. It's so simple of a plot too. Mel Gibson got screwed out a certain sum of money, and that's what he wants to get back. Nothing more, nothing less.

And obviously it's elevated by Bill motherfricking Duke doing Bill motherfricking Duke things throughout the movie.

Wait. There are actually people on this board who didn’t like it?

I don't think that is what he's saying. I think he's saying (correctly) that the movie does not get even a scintilla of the credit and praise it so rightly deserves.

It really is.

What makes this movie great is none of the characters have any redeeming qualities. They are all bad. The prostitute might be the only one with any soul yet you root for Porter.

I don't understand how even that's possible.

Just like some version of this meme should have been used a lot, but wasn't.

ETA: No doubt, the theatrical cut is better.

One of my favorite movies ever. I really don’t know why it doesn’t get more love. Maybe it’s just because Hollywood hates Mel Gibson
