The old X-men cartoons on Marvel/Disney really hit the ground running

I decided to re-visit these old cartoons. They are good - maybe even better than I remembered.
I'm still in the middle of the first season and man, they really throw out some heavy antagonists and storylines from the get go and don't really let up. Magneto, Kelly, Mr. Sinister, Omega Red, Juggernaut, Sentinels, Master Mold, the Savage Land, Genoshua, and on and on.
Then you have the internal stuff - the Scott/Jean/Logan triangle, the beginnings of the Gambit/Rogue relationship, Charles and Magneto's history, etc.
Glad I decided to check these out.

One of the few series that I don't automatically skip the intro.

I always thought it was one of the coolest cartoons as a kid. Wolverine just oozed badass energy.
And yeah, the first episode really hooks you.

Night of the Sentinals was the first episode, right?
Nothing ever captured the xmen comics of the 80s and 90s better than this show. It's still the gold standard to me of Marvel properties.
The voice casting was beyond incredible, but the portrayal of Apocalypse was the best.
"I am as far beyond mutants as they are beyond you. I am eternal."
"Evil? I am not malevolent... I simply am..."

The X-Men 90s show was so good. The animation does get kind of dodgy in the last season though.

I’ve been on an old cartoon kick for over a year. Already watched Gi Joe, Inspector Gadget and Heathcliff

Been my ringtone for almost 10 years through multiple phones.
Other than BM:tAS, GOAT action cartoon.
ETA: I want to add what this series was for me… in late September 92, my mom was out for a walk with my dad. This was in the country. My teenage next door neighbor was looking down to change a cassette tape and hit my mom going 60 mph. She flew 20 feet up in the air, slammed down.
When the ambulances got there, she was declared dead, resuscitated, and placed in a coma for 6+ months.
This came out while I was in the hospital on Saturday mornings sitting with her. I still think it’s quality, but this series made those weekends with my mom much more survivable. Built my love for comics. It will always hold a special place in my heart.
Not to bring the thread down. She came out and lived a different but full life afterwards and is still alive today and runs a small business into her 70s.

That series is going to come back.

X-Men '97 was revealed to premiere on the service in 2023, which will continue the plot of the series. Beau DeMayo will serve as head writer, with most of the surviving cast members of the original series reprising their roles, including Dodd, Zann, Buza, Disher, Potter, Sealy-Smith, Hough, and Britton. They will be joined by Jennifer Hale, Anniwaa Buachie, Ray Chase, Matthew Waterson, JP Karliak, Holly Chou, Jeff Bennett, and A. J. Locascio; Court will not be reprising her role as Jubilee, and will instead voice another character as she asked for Jubilee to be voiced by an Asian actress. The series will be produced by Marvel Studios Animation, but will not take place within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Hopefully Apocalypse will be voiced by an Egyptian immortal...

What’s Oscar Isaac up to?

One of my favorite cartoons as a kid in the 90s along with Exo-Squad.

This and Batman: TAS came out within a month of one another. A couple of years later, Spiderman and then Superman and then Justice League.
That was a magical time for superhero cartoons.
XMen was the first real, serious attempt to make more faithful superhero cartoons since the Fleisher Superman cartoons from the 40s (I don't count the done-on-the-extremely-cheap effort on the Marvel series from '69 - the art was solid for the time but the animation and writing was drek).
As is usual, much of what they pulled from was from the Claremont era. I can't help but wonder how much longer that content can be rehashed before it becomes like Batman's or Spiderman's origin stories.
