How did Gemini astronauts poop in space?

Jim Lovell and Buzz Aldrin in a photo op with their Gemini capsule:

The space agency's next project, Gemini, put two astronauts side-by-side in a spacecraft, testing out the crucial maneuvers that would bring the Apollo spaceflyers to the moon. To show that humans could survive in space for two weeks, Jim Lovell and Frank Borman spent 14 days flying in Gemini 7, the longest manned mission at the time. "They had no toilet in there," Roberts said. "What they had was basically a plastic bag every time they had to do a No. 2." Space toilets didn't become much more sophisticated by the time the first Apollo missions launched. Astronauts like Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong had fecal collection bags that stuck to their bottoms with adhesive when they had to go. And microgravity could make things messy.

Odors didn't go away either.
Even flatulence would stink up the place for a long time.

I’m not sure what’s worse, the feces/flatulence or having to sit stiff in a seat for 7 days.

Is sitting really the same though at zero gravity?

Like it says...they crapped into bags with adhesive to stick them to their asses. There was some kind of blue crap disinfectant in there, and after sealing the bag, they would have to knead the poop and the blue stuff.
When the recovery divers opened up Lovell and Borman's capsule, they reported the stench inside was overwhelming. Apparently, Borman and Lovell had become nose blind to it. I've read that some of the other Gemini and Apollo capsules were pretty rank afterwards from poo, B.O., and puke.

I would tape bag to butthole
Have my co worker spins me around.
Then poop. The centrifugal force would get the poop to the bottom of the bag

With an arse you've shitted from into a bag, but apparently been unable to wipe the whole time.

Somehow that just doesn't seem like a deal maker to me.

Space arse > swamp arse

I think I would prefer a looser stool, though not diarrhea, if it were me. Seated like you are in a car seat, it’s going to take a lot of straining to pass something solid, and then you have to sit on your unwiped butt for 14 days.

Apollo 8... Frank Borman puked twice and had diarrhea inside the capsule
Bet that was a fun ride for the other two

Yesterday I read about a woman that pooped her pants while running a marathon.
She didn't stop, she finished the marathon.

So it’s the opposite of a feedbag.

Why wouldn't the NASA Balloon gondola have a pot aboard??

Wasn't there a story about some crazy lady astronaut a few years back, who went off her rocker because of some relationship issue, and they found she had frantically driven across the country wearing a diaper the whole time, so she didn't have to stop?
I guess that was a good example of applying her experience as an astronaut to a real world situation.

I would have tossed the bag out on the moon. First litterbug on the moon.

One of the Apollo astronauts after being briefed on the use of the bags said “hell no”, and believes he was the only astronaut fo complete the entire moon mission without taking a crap.
