How did Gemini astronauts poop in space?

Astronauts like Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong had fecal collection bags that stuck to their bottoms with adhesive when they had to go. And microgravity could make things messy.

I’m not sure what’s worse, the feces/flatulence or having to sit stiff in a seat for 7 days.

Like it says...they crapped into bags with adhesive to stick them to their asses. There was some kind of blue crap disinfectant in there, and after sealing the bag, they would have to knead the poop and the blue stuff.
When the recovery divers opened up Lovell and Borman's capsule, they reported the stench inside was overwhelming. Apparently, Borman and Lovell had become nose blind to it. I've read that some of the other Gemini and Apollo capsules were pretty rank afterwards from poo, B.O., and puke.

I think I would prefer a looser stool, though not diarrhea, if it were me. Seated like you are in a car seat, it’s going to take a lot of straining to pass something solid, and then you have to sit on your unwiped butt for 14 days.

Wasn't there a story about some crazy lady astronaut a few years back, who went off her rocker because of some relationship issue, and they found she had frantically driven across the country wearing a diaper the whole time, so she didn't have to stop?
I guess that was a good example of applying her experience as an astronaut to a real world situation.

One of the Apollo astronauts after being briefed on the use of the bags said “hell no”, and believes he was the only astronaut fo complete the entire moon mission without taking a crap.
