Question about the Unabomber

I just watched the Manhunt series, which was pretty good.
The Unabomber lived in a tiny cabin in Montana with no utilities at all. He subsisted on wild things supplemented by what he grew, and lived on about $400 per year.
So if he had no electricity, how did he do all that fine soldering needed to make bombs? How did he do all the machining needed to make those complicated mechanisms without power tools? How did he afford to travel back and forth to San Francisco (where he mailed them all) on thirty-three bucks a month?
Seems to me he must have had some help.

Soldering was done with a torch, I'd assume... That's what I use.

I thought he used a generator

There were and are gas soldering irons that some people prefer to electric.

Guess that would do it. Let me google it.

I think his parents gave him money when he was younger, and that he saved money from when he was a professor

Uncle Ted was pretty prophetic, right?

I think you are way over-estimating the complexity of the bombs he made.

Certainly seems so.

Especially as he describes oversocialization in modern societies.

Well, I just googled “Unabomber Bomb design.” I’ll be in solitary at Gitmo by the end of the day, likely!

Yeah. I guess you could heat a piece of metal in a fire and use it to solder.
I just remember that in one of his bombs he used huge amounts of solder (according to the series).

Hey, Gerry, In the 1960s there was a young man that graduated from the University of Michigan. Did some brilliant work in mathematics. Specifically bounded harmonic functions. Then he went on to Berkeley. He was assistant professor. Showed amazing potential. Then he moved to Montana, and blew the competition away.

It's been said he and most hillbilly girls have one thing in common-they've all been fingered by their brother!

Those who are most sensitive about "politically incorrect" terminology are not the average black ghetto-dweller, Asian immigrant, abused woman or disabled person, but a minority of activists, many of whom do not even belong to any "oppressed" group but come from privileged strata of society.

Weller kit.
The Weller kit has a soldering iron, hot knife, torch, and hot air blower for shrink tube. It runs forever on butane.
