I wouldn't have picked Kissinger this year. You get 0 points for him.

Although in some circles he seemed to be revered as a wise man / senior statesman, at least in relatively recent years my impression of him has been more that he's in the category of, 'A stopped clock is right twice a day.' He might have once been right about a couple of things, but he seemed to have a bunch of ridiculous takes. No, I didn't track his positions--that's merely my impression.

Also, he had his own Monty Python song:

Honestly, I would have guessed Henry Kissinger had been dead for a couple of decades. I haven’t even heard his name for that long.

He and Shirley Temple used to be my “surprise! they’re still alive!” bar trivia/fun fact gotchas. Now both are sadly gone.

Love him or hate him, he was the second most influential non president in US history behind Benjamin Franklin. And had more impact than most presidents.

Charlie was a wise down to earth guy who lived frugally and dispensed great advice.

Kissinger was a publicity hound who could have helped end the Vietnam war at least 3 years earlier, if not more, but didn't because he thought prolonging it helped Nixon's reelection prospects.

frick him hope he rots in hell.
