Must read/listen for people that like their freedom & would prefer not to be wrongfully convicted.
Especially for those in the "Muh, if you ain't done nuthin wrong" crowd.

I mean, that's just common sense.
Be courteous, but don't run your mouth.

I like to watch police interrogations on YouTube. While I'm glad those pieces of shite get what they deserve, it also offends my sensibilities to see the interrogators using misrepresentations, half truths, and crude psychological tricks.
Everybody slobs the knob of Canadian detective Jim Smythe, but he misses as often as he hits. There's one where he and his crew badger an accused killer literally all night and the guy never cracks. I had to have a little bit of respect for the guy for standing up to hours of tag team verbal bullying (in Canada the accused doesn't have a right to call a halt to the proceedings by invoking their right to remain silent. )

Just stop talking. So many people don't understand. Innocent, guilty, caught red-handed......just stop talking.

It's because people have been brainwashed since birth that the police are their friends.
I heard an attorney once say that when he gives his "don't talk to cops" advice to friends & family that they always respond with "if you haven't done anything wrong" and "that would be rude, cops are heroes" rhetoric.
He said he is trying to keep them from a wrongful conviction & they are more worried about offending the cop because cops are heroes etc.

IME about 80% of non-criminal types (meaning they don't have a record but may be guilty) can wait to start talking to cops even when they have always said they wouldn't. They feel isolated, respond well to the nice cop routine because they don't want to be perceived as guilty for not talking and in the end they just want to go home. What most people would call real criminals are the only ones who actually don't talk to cops, they aren't concerned about the cops thinking they are guilty.

Caveat: first invoke your right to remain silent, ask for a lawyer, THEN be silent. Just being silent can be used against you in court. It's stupid and tyrannical, but true.

Ask for a lawyer. The questioning stops.

Guy takes almost an hour to say what could be said in 2 minutes. Definitely a lawyer.

Salinas v. Texas
Absolutely horrible majority opinion by Alito. You should never have to overtly invoke a right.

The name-calling is so upstanding. You strike me as a pillar of the community. Are you a cop or a bootlicker? frick you and the cops.

I purchased his little book and got my wife and teen kids to read it. You have no rights unless you exercise them.
