Have to make the drive today leaving around 3:30. How screwed am I having to drive through BR around 5pm? Is there any way to avoid it?

Considered highway 90 but it adds 45 minutes with clear traffic, not including delays in Kenner.

I would say 99 all day every day. You cross the river on the Huey in Metry, never going through Kenner.

However, my in-laws came in last weekend and said there is major construction around Houma causing bad delays.

Do not take 310 north as it is down to one lane. That’s if you take 90.

90-jump up through thib and cross the river in vacherie-get on 10- take I-55 to 12 then 12 to Slidell.

Weezy is right you need a helicopter.

The construction causing delays in Houma is on 24 not 90.

Where there are construction zones on 90:
J-Turn construction near the intersection with 182 near Raceland
New Iberia US 90 is down to one lane each direction to repave the other side
US 90 and Ambassador Caffery in Laffy for construction of an interchange for the future I-49. There is also some ongoing work on new service roads near Broussard

I’m the same boat. Leaving slidell for lake Charles around 415. I’ve prepared myself mentally already. It’s gonna suck either way.

Do you have to be in Lake Chuck at a certain time? Can you leave Slidell at 6 and let all the shite 5pm traffic be cleared by 7:15 once you reach BR?

No worries as long as he has plenty of quarters for the toll booths.

OP will certainly avoid BR traffic, but may be pissed off when he realizes he’s just back in Slidell.

I guess this answers the question for me on my return trip… hwy 90 it is.

Traffic was backed up for miles at a crawl this evening, eastbound. The hole is nearer to the east end of the bridge.

DOTD Notices Hole on Bridge Deck of Atchafalaya Basin Bridge, Repairs Underway

That said, we hit BR westbound around 4:30 and the traffic wasn’t as bad as I expected.
