A fanged bat attacked me today.

I'm working outside in my backyard this afternoon. There is a large brick cooking/sink area. As I come around that area, I see this "thing" clinging to the brick on the back wall. It immediately engages me. I'm thinking "WTF" as I swat it as it tries to get after me. It finally ended up on my pants leg, biting down on the pants.
I knocked it off the pants and that disabled from flying (at that point I'm cognizant that I need to not let this bat fly off). It seemed disabled from flying, but I put a small pecan log on top of it so it would not fly off.
An aggressive daytime bat attack is not a good thing. I am pretty sure no bite, but can't really tell. The Department of Wildlife and Fisheries came on got the now deceased bat. One of my clients is a prominent virus expert, and told me to be sure the bat is tested. Apparently, the contact was sufficient that I'll probably have to go through the rabies protocol.
The bat's behavior would suggest that it was ill.
This was after two feral dogs came to the house and killed one cat and seriously injured the other.

Get a rabies shot immediately. One of my friends son died of a bat bite after Katrina

You’ll soon find that your skin is sensitive to light and you can hear a heartbeat from a mile away

First some questions:
1. Did you notice the sun being irritating after the attack?
2. Go look in a mirror, tell me what you see.
3. Do you find yourself with an overwhelming urge to bite attractive young ladies on the neck?

My attorney advised me to ask you, do you live somewhere between LA and Vegas?

Well, don't you just have your own little house of horrors going on?
ETA: I like birds and bugs and all sorts of natural stuff. I have several types of birdhouses and such. But, bats just creep me the hell out.
I've always liked the IDEA of having a bat house, but I don't think I could ever do it, despite the good mosquito control they could bring.

Yep need to bag it and get it tested for rabies. Happened to me when I was a kid while fishing. Bat landed on me during the day and it had rabies. It didn't bit me but they said any saliva contact could get rabies. Had to get all the rabies shots
