Bossier City Boardwalk Area is nearly a Ghost Town

Went on a family day trip today to BassPro and walked around the Boardwalk area. The majority of the stores have gone out of business. There were very few people walking the Boardwalk area and the parking garage had plenty of parking spaces open.
I could understand it more, if it was happening on the Shreveport side of the river but not on the Bossier side.

Should turn it into a nightlife mall with various pubs, clubs and bars

I was there 3 weeks ago.
Dying, just like malls.

It used to have some when I managed the Hooters there from 06-10. We need to move that location. They wanted to charge us to hang christmas decorations

Yeah they knocked that out of the park.

I thought so as well. Any ways they could connect it and try to revive the boardwalk?

I was in the area for work. I went to the BassPro to look at guns, and was disappointed in the area where BP is located. Trash central! Nothing but trashy establishments and scenery.

It’s not far from the boardwalk, but I don’t see how they could connect it.
In hindsight I don’t see how the Boardwalk was going to work. Would’ve been real cool if instead of all the outlets and chain restaurants they did what others said and made it a better nightlife area.

When it first opened it was nice. It keeps getting bought and sold with no real direction for it

Simple Church is taking over the south side of it. I think from where Cheesecake Bistro used to be all the way down to the old Stompin’ Donkey.
It’s pretty sad overall, but somehow Joe’s Crab Shack has made it all these years

I stayed at the Courtyard not too long ago and went for a walk to pick up Hooters… it was a ghost town then too.

I was in that bass pro one time looking at the guns when a brutha was trying to purchase a pistol. The worker was running the background check and said "this says you are a felon," brutha just walked off.
When they first opened the boardwalk the security was insane, you weren't even allowed to wear a hat backwards. I heard they eased up on security and a different crowd showed up.

When they had the night or comedy club there it would bring people but the cops set up right out front the parking lot to pull people over. People got wise to this and stopped coming. They had a good Irish bar and the bowling alley was nice as well

In other towns that would be perfect for it. In this one, that's going to end up in a bloodbath and riots.

It's close enough to the District that they should be able to come up with something to connect those.

This. It's an outdoor mall in a very hot climate. Just the way things are now.
The Nike store is closing too which was the only store that was always busy. COVID definitely sped up the process of retailers leaving, and now with Nike going I just don't see a way out of it unless they turn it into some sort of apt/condo complex with restaurants and nightlife attached.
