UpRising Bakery and Cafe in Lake in the Hills said it plans to close on March 31 if it cannot make up for losses it has experienced since it became the center of controversy in July 2022.
“Closing our doors is the direct result of the horrific attacks, endless harassment, and unrelenting negative misinformation about our establishment in the last eight months,” owner Corinna Sac said in a statement.
UpRising Bakery and Cafe first made headlines last summer when the bakery scheduled a drag show brunch that was set to be for all ages. In what would eventually become part of a national trend, the bakery was quickly targeted with "hateful comments and fake negative reviews" and, later, threats of violence and vandalism.

here's how i feel about it...
they have the freedom to do as they see fit in their establishment, as long as they are not hurting anyone... that's their right, here in America, land of the free...
customers have the freedom to get their baked goods where they feel comfortable getting their baked goods... that's their right, here in America, land of the free...
if you choose to do something with your establishment that may turn off a large majority of people, where they no longer feel comfortable with your establishment, and they choose to go to another place b/c of your actions, that YOUR consequence of your choices... no reason to get mad, or claim to be a victim, when that's the reality of making a choice, no matter what that choice is... every choice has consequence, period

I legitimately think there are some people who have gender dysphoria, though the real numbers are being exaggerated due to fad.. Adults can do what adults want to do.
But why is the emphasis on children? I cannot figure out a legit reason for this emphasis on "trans youth."

Here is an idea. How about just selling baked goods and shutting up about everything not related to it onsite?
I wouldn't go to a bakery that has over the top religious shows either.
For the 1000th time, why do drag queens need kids in the audience?
Why don't strip clubs put on "kid friendly" shows with pasties and bikini bottoms? Heteros don't target kids for grand elaborate productions. Our pedos do their shite on the sly by themselves most of the time.
