Globalization is killing our job market

I work in for the IT arm of a US bank. We've got a huge backlog of work so we had to add five engineers. All five are contract hires from Mexico or Dominican Republic. They've done a good job so far but are undoubtedly getting paid less than us American employees. Folks who were laid-off and new grads are pitted against worldwide cheaper labor. Not a good time to be looking for a job.

Work from home has made it easier to replace domestic workers with cheaper overseas labor. This trend will continue.
