How white and affluent drivers are polluting the air breathed by L.A.’s people of color

He told me it largely comes down to the shameful history of Los Angeles County’s low-income communities of color being torn apart to make way for freeways — a history that has been extensively documented by The Times. Today, many residents of the county’s whiter, more affluent neighborhoods — who were often able to keep highways out of their own backyards — commute to work through lower-income Black and Latino neighborhoods bisected by the 10, 110 and 105 freeways and more.

It's less likely to stop as long as you keep reading and sharing.

Racist roads. Tear them all down L.A.

The way the author repeatedly refers to the interstates as "the _____ Freeway" rubs me the wrong way.
Just say 405 instead of "the 405 Freeway" every single time. People know which road you're talking about.

It stops when the society turns back to relentless ridicule for the people that deserve it

Sooo interstates only go through areas where only black people live?

Silly silly man. He overlooks the evolution of neighborhoods in L.A. and the migrations of different ethnic groups.
The fellow we bought Mr. Turf's wooden boat from was in his early 60s. He had lived in L.A. his whole life. His Father had been one of the first plastic surgeons (=money). He grew up in Long Beach and told us the evolution of his neighborhood.

Colored
Mexican
Vietnamese
Thai
Honduran
I may have left out Chinese. Those waves of displacing immigrants certainly don't fit his story, do they?

Everything is racist these days. Even manicured lawns. SMH.

this right here.
you could say the same about a lot of areas.
New Orleans East where I-10 runs used to be mostly white. Slowly became black and yellow.

So we don’t breathe the same air?

From what I was told, BRPD officers had to take a class for racial type training where the speaker said I110 was racist in BR.
Even though it was built when that area was mostly white Exxon employees

It was pretty much all white but don't let that ruin the narrative
