outdoor TV question

Hey friends, I'm looking at putting a TV on our back porch.
50" or more outdoor TVs are $1500+. I can buy a regular (non-outdoor) TV for ~ $300.
Would you recommend buying the cheaper TVs and replace as needed, or buying the higher priced TV? Thanks

Just get indoor and have a cover for it when you dont use it. I've had a 50-inch LG last outside for almost 8 years. A few others lasted 5-6 years. In the winter when its foggy and damp a lot I do keep it covered...fog, if you get any, will be eventually what kills it.

Buy a whatever regular flatscreen. Go an Amazon and buy a cover for it when not in use. If it craps out buy another one. They are cheap.

I bought two 75” inch indoor Samsung TV’s for $1000 a piece for my back porch. One lasted 1 year and the screen fell off and the other is still going strong. Replaced the broken one with the same model a year ago and haven’t had any issues yet. I get full sun in my backyard so I think the sun and heat had something to do with the glue on the screen letting go and the screen falling off.
I kept them covered for the most part unless it was the weekend and we were entertaining.

I have a cheap TCL on my back patio... it gets a little sun on the back in the mornings, but it's shielded from the rain. Has been through temps as low as 7 degrees and hasn't had a single issue.
Don't spend the money on the outdoor TV if it's out of the rain.

Get a projector and move it inside when not in use.

Same as the rest...get the cheap one.
We got a 50" for $150 and a $25 cover. Key is keeping moisture out. Been going strong for 2 years.
If it stops working at some point, will just buy another one.

Indoor all the way. Got a 65" on the back patio. It is secure from rain, but that is it. Cost me around $500 from Sam's and going on 3 years now. TVs are so cheap now, not worth getting an "outdoor" model.

Cheap tv will last just as long
And don’t piss away money on an enclosure if it’s under a porch protected

Put your current living room TV outside and get a new one of those.

I've had a cheap toshiba on my patio for 3 years now, it was about 3 years old when I put it there. It gets damp every time it rains. Still going strong.

Yes. I've only had to replace one in about 7 years.

Cheap indoor tv but I would highly suggest not covering it. In our area the humidity is so high that having any type of cover over it only traps moisture and holds it there longer than if it were uncovered. If it’s decently protected by whatever structure it is mounted under, I wouldn’t cover it.

My dad has an indoor tv on his porch. It’s now 7 years old. He just covers it whenever he’s not using it.

As mentioned, indoor all the way. The only issue I've had with them is the HDMI (and other) ports can get some surface rust. Spray them with Corrosion X when new and forget about it.

I have had a cheap walmart TV on our back patio for over 10 years, its just now starting to show some issues and need to be replaced.
As long as it is mounted in a spot that doesn't get wet you should be golden with a cheap TV.
