Look at other board options, good luck!

I don’t think Davidson gives football scholarships and it is expensive as hell.
For football, James Madison is by far the top program of those.

Washington and Lee will make a well rounded confident southern gentleman out of your boy

William and Mary has a beautiful campus. At JMU the chick to dude rate is like 3:1. That’s all I got

Good school. nice and pretty area of richmond. Knew several people who stayed in Richmond after their time at UofR. I enjoyed the 5 years that I was in richmond in general.

All the VA schools are very good academically. Virginia Universities are a step above other Southern States in most cases. Including the smaller schools. Most people don’t realize that William & Mary is a VA public school and not private. For football, JMU, Richmond, and W&M are good options. Just know that JMU is more traditional southern while W&M is more liberal and less good looking coeds. Richmond is more rich kids.
My 3 kids all went to VA universities.

From VA so can speak to these a bit.
William & Mary will offer the strongest degree for life after football.
JMU is the best football program and has a strong business program with a large alumni network in the DC area. Campus divided by a highway which isn’t the prettiest. JMU has a great party scene with a favorable coed ratio.
I wouldn’t consider any of the others.

Being from that general area, I'd rank in order of academic prestige:
1. William and Mary
2. Washington Lee
3. Richmond
4. Davidson
5. JMU
6. Elon
But it's all what your interest is.
Schools like Elon, W&L, and Davidson are small schools in small towns. All nice.
UR is in suburban Richmond, one of the largest cities in Va.
JMU is a medium size school in a medium size city, not very prestigious, but ok.
W&M is one of the oldest colleges in America. Very rich history.

W&L best school on that list. Football not his future and really shouldn’t be a factor if that’s his list. Basically a club sport at most of those schools.

William and Mary has the best alumni network that is better than all the others you listed put together.
It's not what you know but who you know that matters.

Washington and Lee

Elon is full of northerners who couldn’t get into a better school. Plus there’s not much to do in the immediate area. Davidson has a nicer campus but is still majority northerners.

Don’t you mean W&L? They like to keep the Lee part hush-hush nowadays.
