My employer has ended class inequities and systemic racism

Despite record 2021 profits, my employer has sent out notice that they will no longer pay for the internet of mid and upper-mid level employees. Work from home employees at the aforementioned levels will now have to cover their own internet costs.
Top level employees will still be covered, and they will now be covering the cost of internet services for low to low-mid level employees.
My employer is a fortune 50 company.
Look for these shenanigans coming to a company near you.
Middle class is always getting kicked in the nuts.

My wife is WFH. Her company has never offered to pay for any expenses associated other than providing her a laptop and a monitor.

They can’t do that. If you need the internet to work for your employer he can’t make you pay for internet. Lol

Do you know how many construction guys have to pay for their own tools?
On the internet side of things, I would be mad if I had data limits and my work was data intensive, otherwise it's whatever. I still need internet at home regardless of work.

That's fricked, and borderline unbelievable.
I also didn't realize that employers paid for Internet, but if they are going to pay for only the lowest and highest paid employees then that's pretty dumb and doesn't really make any sense.

They absolutely can make you pay for your own internet. You can attempt to write it off at tax time, but no company is forced to pay for internet for WFH.
The SO is pre-COVID WFH and all they provide him is a laptop and their team manager bought them all a nice monitor setup for their home desktops through their team budget. Everything else SO went out of pocket for.
I also WFH at times (telehealth) and my boss doesn't pay for my internet or my laptop but I'll write them off.

Been working primarily from home since the start of the pandemic. Company never offered to pay for Internet. In fact, I had to bump up my plan because of bullshite overages Cox started charging. Company gave me a laptop with a cord…..that’s it. Using my personal monitor and had to but a docking station with my own $ to make working from home a bit more comfortable.

You do know that as part of the home office deduction you can deduct the cost of internet service, right? Along with many other items.
