Weekend trip to Cubs games. Where to stay?

My son and I are looking to go to Orioles/Cubs series this summer. Probably fly in to Midway on Friday and back out on Sunday.
Where are good places to stay? Not going to rent a car so either easy train or short Uber ride to Wrigley.
Close to places to eat and grab some beers. Thanks

Son (11) and I are going for the Reds series Memorial Day weekend. We're staying near Michigan Ave downtown. If you find a hotel within walking distance of the red line, it's an easy 15-20 minute train ride to and from Wrigley. Everything else we'll want to do in Chicago is near downtown, so it makes more sense to stay there than in Wrigleyville.

It’s a super easy/safe walk to the train to leave to get to midway, as well as the red line to get to the cubs game. Absolutely 0 trouble….
Also plenty of pros about also staying right there is everything else is within walking distance that you would want to do (bean, Mag mile, river, parks, train access…etc)
They have other hotels within that little area… but for the price usually and what you just need to get out of that weekend it’s ideal. I wouldn’t look anywhere else other than that little area.

Take your son to Sluggers pre-game in Wrigleyville and let him get some swings in off the pitching machine.
Was a great father/son trip. You’ll enjoy

The red line goes down state street downtown so anything around there is great. Hop on the redline and it’s 15-20 mins. Very popular way to get to a game.
I’m sure there’s more options further north also one of the locals will have to chime in on.
ETA: there’s a train to both airports to downtown. So you can easily train downtown and then catch the red line from there. Midway is a good distance from wrigley but you could also fairly easily Uber to your hotel and then Uber from the hotel to the game. Depending on the day and time ubering is certainly an option.

We stayed on the magnificent mile at a Hilton and the red line was one block up. Super nice part of Chicago. It was a great experience getting off at Addison and seeing the stadium I watched my whole life on WGN.

I stayed in the Loop and in the Gold Coast area and was able to get wherever I wanted to go easily.
Stay wherever you want. Close to Wrigley. Downtown. Mag Mile. River North. Take CTA to anywhere you want to go.
Get a virtual Ventra pass. You can load money/passes on it. If you have an iPhone, you can move it your wallet and just tap your phone at the turnstiles to get into the trains.

I like the intercontinental. Nice downtown location, east access to the public transportation. And it has one of the great hotel pools. A real historic time piece worth visiting.

I always stay in River North area for Chicago and Wrigley is always a stop.
It’s safe and lively. And a short walk to the red line which drops you off at Wrigley.
I’ve never needed a car in Chicago.

Everyone is giving you great advice. Stay downtown near the red line. You step off the train right in Wrigleyville. Then after some afternoon games you can still see some sights and grab a pizza.

If I were you, I'd just try finding a hotel around River North / Magnificent Mile. Red Line will be quickest to Addison, but even a hotel along the Brown Line is fine. You can just get off at Belmont (or transfer to Red, but it doesn't add much benefit at that point) and walk to Wrigleyville.

Ventra accepts contactless cards, too, which might be easier for a weekend visitor that doesn't want to stop at a machine or set up a Ventra account on their phone.

Hotel Zachary is across the street from Wrigleyville. Stay there. Tons of great dinning and bars walking distance.

Word of caution that Zachary gets expensive during weekend homestands, especially in the summer months. Really not unheard of to pay near $600/night, which they can afford to do because of location + hotels are scarce once you get into the neighborhoods.
If budget isn't an issue, Zachary is the spot for a Cubs weekend. Otherwise, hitting the Red Line / Brown Line isn't going to kill your day + you can save quite a bit staying in River North, Magnificent Mile or The Loop.

I've stayed the Intercontinental a few times. Pretty cool old school pool there too.

We stayed at a small hotel in Wrigleyville It was awesome
It was the Chicago Hotel Collection Wriggleyville. We walked around Wrigleyville after the game and at Pizza. Very convenient, it is a baseball themed hotel

Yeah, I have a friend that lives in CHI now so if I go back I'll likely stay with him, but if we get a hotel in the future it is very hard to not stay in that little area...
It's the most ideal spot and "safe" area to get around.
Last time we were that way we stayed at the Pendry which is right across the street and same setup.
