Why does MLB insist on weekday during the day postseason games?

Could you imagine the NBA or NFL playing postseason games at 2:00pm on a Tuesday?

People who aren’t fans of the rays or rangers are more than likely not watching these games.

Why not try a better spot during the evening?

Would you really want to showcase a 1/2 full stadium in Tampa in prime time?

Would it be half full if it started at 7 instead of 2?

Probably

Did you see the lack of attendance in Tampa today and yesterday?

Playing in primetime wouldn't have mattered.

I love that the Rays said they are building a new stadium but it's going to be next to the Trop in St. Petersburg. That is not going to solve their attendance issues.

I get what you’re saying, but I think the biggest difference is how often MLB teams play vs. other sports. NBA, you never get 4 games in a day unless it’s Saturday or Sunday because they take at least a day off, sometimes 2 or 3 between games so they don’t need to schedule things like the MLB does.

Nope.

Especially that they're putting in the same area that the Trop is in now, it doesn't make any sense.

Because ESPN gets 3 windows of games this way. And the NBA doesn't cram their playoffs into a month. When MLB first expanded to 6 divisions, they had 4 playoff games at the same time. TV executives decided that didn't work. So playoff games are now played in the afternoon. It's been like this for ages. It's not something new that suddenly started happening this year. I used to take off from work to watch the games, so it doesn't bother me.

Baseball is a sport meant to be played every day. They already break that by scheduling off days when the site changes in each series after the first round. The NL Division Series will have an off day between games 1 and 2 at the same site, which is bad but they’re trying to limit going against the NFL on Sunday as much as possible.

And MLB doesn’t go three and four days between games in a series like the NBA does routinely.

Sure but why not go with 1 hour staggered starts for all games? Even 5/6/7/8 would be a massive improvement. Playoff baseball shouldn't be played at 2 pm in the middle of the week.
