DAT 9/21 Astros Off-Day Edition. The good guys are still somehow in 1st place.

And with that backdrop, here we are. Perhaps the most warped team to ever lead a division with 10 games left. Can't beat crappy teams. Can't beat good teams. Can't win at home. Can't beat crappy teams at home. The pitching staff is falling apart.
It will take a magic act to turn this thing around and make all the problems disappear.

Well...let's do this. Go get 'em Astros, or something.

Feel bad for season ticket holders. I know baseball is fun but the home performance is just…sad and lackluster

Just to add to the hilarity of this late season collapse, chances are whoever finishes third in the division won't get the WC because the Jays have moved into the 2nd WC spot after winning four in a row. They have 5 games left against the Yanks and 6 against the Rays to close out the season.

Astros are winning the AL west. Even with a loss today, it’ll probably be tied in the division, we go sweep the 50 win royals and then have the Mariners on deck. Win 1 maybe 2 and it sets us up nicely with the dbacks to win the west. That 4 game rangers Mariners series will be what saves us.

If they get in, it would be better for them to get the 6 seed since they can’t win at home.
But I’m also slowly moving into the “who cares” camp.

Just end the season. It's over.

Lady? Is that you? What an odd alter name for a Lady.

My prediction for the remainder of the season:
Mariners: 90-72
Astros: 89-73
Rangers: 89-73
Astros hold the tie breaker over the Rangers.
Picking the actual games they win/lose was arbitrary. But the end records will be:
Astros 10 games remaining (5-5):
BAL -- L
KC -- W
KC -- L

You just put way more effort into that than the Astros do when they’re home, not taking care of business
Astros pitching decline overall, more starters than relievers, is too much for a non-stable inconsistent lineup, plagued with rested players and a mentally handicapped primate to overcome
Their fate was probably sealed the second Tucker caught Castellanos’ ball in foul territory. If not, it was shortly thereafter, when Dusty didn’t ride off into perpetual stonedom.
Team has been handicapped from the start with WBC and other significant injuries, only complicated by a lack of motivation with no sense of urgency from ownership down to the bench.
Astros season has not ironically mimicked what you see in every urban city in America.

Can't see how Javier makes it through 3 innings without giving up 6 against Balt.

It's over. What a shitty season it turned out to be. FODB robbed Diaz of a ROY award, pitching staff crumbled and best hitters continue to fail in big situations late in the year. I'm out. Let's roll out Singleton, Dubon, Maldonado, Meyers and Kessinger today.

This season is like having a hang over when you get older. You wake up feeling not to bad and thinking you didn't drink as much as you thought. Then as the day goes on, you really start to feel those shots of liquor after 2 6 packs of beer. Finally you just say frick it, and start drinking all over again.
