Is Nebraska still considered a blue blood in college football?

One of the hallmarks of a blue blood is their programs never really die, they just go into dormancy until a catalyst wakes them back up and they leapfrog the current in-programs. Michigan is a good example making the CFP with Harbaugh, or winning a natty in the 90s.

Can Nebraska compete again?

Neither Nebraska or Notre Dame are every going to be a top tier program again. I don’t see OU being a perennial power house again, either. They are a lot closer to Ole Miss level than Alabama level.

Nebraska isn't anymore, but they are still more of a blue blood than Texas, who has one national title in 55 years.

Michigan, however, is even more overrated than Texas. Michigan has one shred title in 76 yrs.

Oklahoma has one national title in 38 yrs.

LSU, Florida, Miami, FL State, Auburn and Georgia are all far more qualified as 'blue bloods' now than half of these teams.

Notre Dame this year may be pretty damned good. We'll find out in two weeks.

Miami, Auburn, Florida and Florida State? Three of them don't really have much of a football history before the 1980's or 1990's (Florida). LSU would be more of a "new blood" with most of their success being in the last 20 years. Then again, they're more likely to go 9-4 or 8-5 than they are to contend for anything. Georgia decade by decade just doesn't cut but their recency is really, really good.

I’d rather be a new blood than a blue blood.

Uh Notre Dame has been a top tier program the last 15 years…

Unless by top tier you just mean 3 or 4 teams…which is ridiculous .

Nebraska will be fine once they get a real quarterback. They have an elite 11 QB committed.

So the barometer used to be at least 800 wins and a win percentage of at least 70%. But Nebraska has been passed up in wins by Pedo St and is now below 70%.

No, this is not “traditional football” in a sense when they were relevant. With recruiting, transfer portal, NIL paired with their geographical disadvantage they are done.

People don’t understand how being a blue blood works. And it’s about more than just recent wins. It’s the opposite of what have you done for me lately.

Did you make that image, OP? If not, how many hours did it take you to find a graphic that included “blue bloods” and nuhbraskuh?
