Okay, so we all know he never won a Super Bowl, which is a travesty given how great of a QB he was. So, putting that aside, where would you rank Dan Marino all time in terms of overall QB play? How does he stack up against Brady, Montana, Manning, etc.?

Side question: If Marino had been on, say the Cowboys or Bills in the 90’s, would he have won several Super Bowls? For those of us too young to remember, what held him back on those Dolphins teams?

Below average defense with a QB who pressured the scheme to be pass heavy.

Bad combination.

Borderline top 5, but not sure if he quite makes the cut.

He’s the most skilled thrower there ever was. And his release is as quick as they come.

Sadly, he never had a running game or defense worth a shite.

Supposedly ex teammates and coaches have stated privately that Marino always wanted to throw the ball, even when the game situation didn't call for it, and that was his fatal flaw. Also stated that he was difficult to coach at times.

That puts him behind all the top of heap guys like Brady, Manning, Montana, etc.

He's probably still, however, a top 5-8 QB. And likely the best pure passer ever in the game.

Brady, Manning, Rodgers, Favre and Brees are my personal top 5. I think Marino and Mahomes are top 10 easy. Mahomes has to play for a few more years to reach top 5, in my opinion but if he continues will easily be too 3

He was good and would rack up stats, but he had flaws in his game that just grew. He didn’t play within what he had and defenses could stop him when it mattered. He’d throw for 400 yards in a week 9 shootout and lose the WC game and everyone would blame the defense, running backs, OLine, and coaches. Everyone but Marino. That was his career.

Very good. Not great.

Watched the Shula bowl game and in cold weather, he was on point. Had a great game. Watched his warm-ups closely and he never missed a receiver running a route, always hit their stomach in stride.

Anyone who usues superbowls as a mesuring stick for a qb, immediately looks like an idiot to me and i no longer listen to anything they say

Better question?

Who was a better QB? Marino 0 rings or Eli 2 rings?
