Nothing like spending money to go see the Warriors only for the starters not to play

I bought the tickets a month ago for my son’s birthday who loves Steph Curry. This was also his first time going to a NBA game. We drove from Baton Rouge only to get to Kenner to hear on the radio that Steve Kerr was resting the starters for the game. My son was disappointed and it was boring watching the backups. I understand if a player is hurt but the season just started and you are resting players already?

I blame Greg Popovich for this because he was the one who started this crap. Michael Jordan never did that and all the super stars played every game back then. Kobe said he knows how much money people spend on tickets to come and watch them play and he never wanted to let them down. My dad took me to go see the Lakers for my birthday when the Hornets first moved to New Orleans. I couldn’t imagine how mad my dad would have been if he spent all that money for Phil Jackson to sit Shaq, Kobe, and the starters just to watch Tyronn Lue, Mark Madsen, and the backups.

Agreed. If this were in middle of the year or right before playoffs I'd understand. But season is still very early.

I feel like coaches should be able to play whoever they want, whenever they want, for whatever reason.

That said, fans also have the right to not buy tickets, coaches need to live with the outcomes (a game lost that otherwise likely would not have been lost), and it doesn't mean that today's NBA players aren't softer than the players of yesteryear, they are.

They bought tickets with the understanding that certain players would play. Even worse none of the starters played. That’s pathetic and immoral on the NBAs part.

It was their 10th game of the 82 game season. These players need rest!

If I knew the starters wouldn’t be playing, I would not have bought tickets to the game. Silly me, I forgot this is the new culture of the nba.

I renewed my Saints tickets thinking Michael Thomas might play and run some slants.

So what? Who plays, for how long, etc is the coaches call, and it should be.

You’re right. He must be faking his injury.

Yeah I'd be bummed, too. It happens. If you can't have fun at a game because of it, then I guess you shouldn't take the risk of buying tickets.

It happened to me a couple of times at the end of Barry Bonds' career. I'd drive an hour up to SF only to find out Bonds was sitting. I still enjoyed a day at the park. Had a hot dog, a couple beers, and just soaked it in.

It was disappointment from me more for my son who didn’t get to see his favorite players on his birthday. He made the best of it though.

It sucks. Because the same thing has happened to me as well. But I also believe coaches should be able to play/not play their players as they see fit.

There is an assumed risk when we buy tickets to sporting events.

You are right and I will stick with going to LSU and Saints games. I’m not crazy about the Pelicans and haven’t been a big fan of them since the Chris Paul days.
