Orgeron has had great classes recently but Miles always had great talent to. Is it about the same or was one better than the other?

Miles's recruiting abilities were probably underrated, while O's recruiting abilities are probably overrated.

Both are good recruiters... but both failed to recruit consistent good OL

I feel like Ed is better at getting recruits but Miles was better at picking recruits and getting kids that would make a difference. I swear it feels like every NFL player right now is from LSU.

He would get kids that had the potential to make a difference. Then put them in the wrong scheme

Miles. Ed won most of his games with Miles players.

Yep it's a wash. LSU will recruit itself

Miles failed miserably at QB!

At this point, who gives a shite? They both got talent here.
Let's worry about the next guy.

O better, especially on the Dline...

I will say this one more time for the Class.........Almost anyone can recruit to LSU....LSU recruits itself always has.
Curly Hallman had high ranked classes and teams loaded with talent. Now we have had coaches who have mismanaged the roster at one or two positions but overall LSU always has talent. Miles couldn't get a QB to save his life but could reel in top WR's? still can't figure that one out. Orgeron couldn't manage the OL and LB groups but you cannot name a single LSU head coach and say he couldn't get recruits here. For the most part I think Head Coaches get too much credit for recruiting to be honest. HC's are limited as far as direct contact with recruits, the head coach is the finisher with recruits and especially the ones that are on the fence or undecided. Most of the hard work is done by the position coach or the coach assigned to that area where that recruit is from.

If you are looking at stars you could say coach O.
But miles had many players that weren't as highly recruited that turned out to be animals. That was really finding diamonds in the rough

wasn't O our recruiting coordinator these 2 years?

Definitely Miles. Simply because he didn’t mismanage the trenches.

We had line issues at the end of Miles's tenure.

common denominator here is Austin Thomas. Our OL recruiting prior to his arrival and "roster management expertise" was much better.
