Ok Tiger Fans, let’s talk Neck. Who wants it and who doesn’t, keep in mind a recent thread about the AD giving the green light based on Joe Burreaux's request.
Players- YES
The Administration – YES
Fans – YES
The Band – YES
The Band Director – NO…..WTF!!!
Fake Tiger fans and Nega-Tigers – You don’t get to vote so down vote away and let us know you are there!
The story I keep hearing is that the band director, Mr. Damon Talley, is the one saying no to neck. I have heard this from multiple sources on the campus and now it seems the AD is perhaps confirming this as well. Mr Talley is NOT a Tiger fan, his background is from the University of Michigan and UT Austin. You can read his bio here: LINK
What is interesting is that nowhere in his bio does he talk about LSU football, LSU athletics, or the importance and impact the band has on the fans and the team playing on the field. However, his bio does mention several times that he is an expert when it comes to blowing on wind instruments……
Perhaps the Associate Director of Bands can do the job better? His bio (see link above) shows that he is actually an alumnus of LSU.
Let’s leverage the power of TigerDroppings to let the LSU administration know that Neck needs to be played. The time is now for this grass roots social media campaign. We all know they read this site, I even heard John Chavis still posts here…

It’s not played because it doesn’t look good for the vulgar chant to be broadcast on national TV.
ETA: but idc, play the fuking song

Talley isn’t in charge of the athletic bands, so no, it’s not him.

The students are going to chant STTDB to anything and everything anyway. Just play the fricking song and be done with it

Our AD apparently doesn’t give a shite how it looks and neither do I. Just play the damn song

I don’t know who’s decision it is but I do know Talley is a piece of shite who needs to be run out of town

There's an hours worth of commercials during any game. Just play neck during a TV timeout. It'll keep the fans in the stands, and no national embarrassment for the prudes. Win/win.

Where did the rumor/story about LSU getting fined if they play it originate?

Between STTDB, RTWFU, and the Super Swag our football team has we need to keep it up, it affects recruiting and it affects the results on the field.

LSU band is badass. I can’t really hate on the guy running it.
Someday either he will be gone or the chant will be publicly forgotten... they’ll play neck & every 80 yr old in the stadium will scream STTDB.
Or idk maybe someone could just arrange a song that sounded like it. Ala “do what you wanna” or some other New Orleans bounce.

I was a student when it was actually played every game and nobody would have EVER chanted that at anytime other than when it was played. Now by banning it you have created a much worse situation and it is being chanted all the time and even when broadcast is live. Play the fricking song during a commercial and be done with it.

During the national championship game, while the band was playing, the crowd was chanting STTDB and Joe Burrow was on camera bouncing his hand up and down along with the beat.
The song was not Neck.

If AD wants it played it will get played.

Would be really easy to only play it when a guy in a red hat is standing on the field

I don't get the infatuation with neck.
And I don't think is't because I'm older thant dirt.

The SEC issues a hefty fine any time it’s played. If the band director refuses, that’s why.
Notice that the band was ready in 2018 when OBJ offered to pay the fine. Hardly seems like the director is the holdup if the band knows how to play the song without any issues.

I believe that Scott Woodward himself recently debunked that myth.

@LouisianaLonghorn - Do you have a source for that statement?
