I don't know how we deserve a T25 ranking after losing to Troy at home. Our absolute best scenario would put us in the Sugar Bowl. But, we have Alabama next weekend...

Downvote away, but reality is about to set back in with a vengeance for those of us who are brandishing their purple shaded glasses.

ETA: Lotta downvotes as expected. Let's bookmark and revisit after Saturday.

What’s your take on beating a 10th ranked squad from a 20pt deficit?

I'll spare you from having to look at my post history... I didn't have a real feel for that game. But my take? That was a damn good win and it gave our players confidence that they can still hang in the SEC.

Alabama, however, is an another level. A lot of people are bringing up things like "Saban hasn't schemed against Canada's offense" or "Bama didn't look good against aTm".

...Well, Bama has a bye just like us to prepare for this game. I'm refusing to buy into any delusions. Can LSU beat them? Hell yes they can, but it will take some luck, flawless execution, a stellar game plan, and Alabama will have to turn the ball over and shoot themselves in the foot a few times.

No no. I’m not angling the Bama contest. I am addressing your point of them being unworthy of a top 25 ranking.

Stay on point.

Is there any way LSU could sneak into the Orange Bowl with a close loss to Bama, but win out at 9-3?

First year coaches always have bumps that first season. Look at Kirby last year? Troy always gives big time teams trouble. It was bad but to bounce back with 3 straight sec wins 2 on the road is impressive. A loss to Bama doesn't change that. Finishing strong and beats Arky tenn & Aggies is big.

LSU has beaten 1 team with a winning record (Auburn).

Opponents combined record (20-29)

LSU two losses : Troy 6-2
MSU 6-2

We'll see where we are in the CFP ranking.

What's annoying is the fact that we'll drop 10 spots if we lose to #1. We'd probably only go up 10 spots if we won. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

I am so tired of being irrelevant nationally.

I’m glad we fired Miles and hired a coach who is a proven winner—oh wait ...

Really can't argue too much with those standings. The only one I think is dumb was Oklahoma jumping Miami when both played avg teams
