Side Effect of 12 Team Playoff... Less Opt Outs

I can't imagine that players from top teams will continue to opt out early or even before a major bowl game with an expanded playoff.
We are also on the clock for the first "a 12 team playoff is bad for the players because there are more chances for them to get hurt and ruin their pro careers" articles...

12 teams is stupid. Top 4 get bye's...so the best 4 get a week to rest, avoid injury to play, a Penn St or a Missouri. Thats going to be real fun.
Should have been 8

How many teams does the FCS have? That's how many teams should make the playoffs.

I think it will be a ton of fun actually.

With 12 you have more meaningful games. You're still fighting for a bye (1-4), or a first round home game (5-8), or one of the last 4 spots.
But they need to take the committee out of the equation. Just use a transparent formula that rewards winning your conference and punishes losses.

Honestly, think it’s one of the biggest factors in expansion. If the natty is within reach, players will play.
My point about conference championship games will be the bigger issue. Why play them if it can bounce out a team on the back half of the top 10?

Totally agree. There will never be a perfect playoff system. Teams 17-20 will argue and moan that they deserved the 16th spot. Fans and sports writers will argue to make it 20 teams.

Twelve is too damn many. A bunch of participation blowouts will happen in the first round. 6-8 would’ve been just fine

Should be 16 teams. 8, 4, 2, National Championship.

I’ve been saying this. More is better. Isn’t everyone sick of these meaningless bowls and all the impact players opting out.

FCS football has 24, NFL has 14 in a 32 teams league, FBS football has 4 in a 120 team league. 4, that is beyond absurd. It should be at least 16.

24
16 teams play round 1
Top 8 have a bye and play 8 winners in round 2

Hmmm that seems a little too much for FBS unless there's a similar amount of teams. I think the sweet spot would be 16 teams for FBS but that 24 team model allows for G5 teams like Liberty to make it without sacrificing a P5 team. I guess now P4 lol
With the amount of meaningless bowls this would be best at 24 and do away with bowls.

I say 32.
Teams ranked 1 - 16 represent one bracket and 17 - 32 the other. They play their games starting in December and the winner of each bracket plays for the NC in January.
Of course, teams ranked 33 - 36 will be raising hell about how they were left out!!

Lets make it a 133 team playoff. They play all season. Losers during the season can keep playing games on their schedules as "consolation" games. At the end of the scheduled 13 week "playoff season", the two best teams (based on coaches and computer rankings) play for the championship.
