He’s built like an offensive tackle these days, and he seems to have lost a step since his injury. Maybe playing OT or OG could give him his best shot at making it to the league?

He just looks so slow on the DL now. Maybe his skill set is now more suited for OL.

Maybe this would allow us to switch one of the quicker freshman OL coming in to the defensive side of the ball.

No. He should stay at DT but he should bulk up from 315 to about 350 to occupy more space. I mean if he's not going to do anything the least he could do is be something of an impediment to navigate around.

What makes you think he won’t be a good OL?

He has shown that he’s too slow for DL.

Except that Maason Smith to OL is actually plausible.

It would be like what Carnell Stewart and Lyle Hitt did in 2007.

It would never happen but he does have the body for a LT.

He needs to step
It up next year.

Sure, since you respond. He hasn’t played oline so absolutely let’s randomly throw him in there his 3rd year in college. He would be a tackle on the oline based on his frame so who does he replace? Will Campbell or Emory Jones? Surely he’s shown enough promise as a DT to step in and replace two preseason all Americans next year.

You fricking moron.

ETA-we are definitely weak on oline and need to move as many warm bodies there as possible. Everyone knows our defense was stacked this year.

I mean on defense he's just blocking olinemen it seems and is never able to get off of his blocks so yes he should

Carnell Stewart, Lyle Hitt, and several others have done it. He doesn’t necessarily have to play tackle. He could be a guard and slide in next to Will Campbell on the left side. Zalance Heard could man the other guard spot.

Maybe at OG. OT needs to have good feet. MS has not show to have that.

Name the ones that switched from DT to oline their 3rd year of college when the DT was a weakness and the oline was a strength. I’ll wait……..

Who cares about any of that?

He’s providing nothing at DT. He might as well play a position where he can actually contribute and where he can have a better chance to have a good NFL career. Stewart and Hitt both did it at the end of their careers.

Who cares about any of the facts. Cbree wants to throw some random shite against the wall and see if it sticks.

Burden of proof falls on you: you want smith to switch to oline to have a better chance at an nfl career. You site Hitt and Stewart. What year did they switch from dline to oline and where were they drafted?
