The Advocate - How good is the Alabama offensive line this year? Alabama’s offense is inconsistent. It has allowed 35 sacks, which is tied with Colorado for the second most in the Football Bowl Subdivision and the Crimson Tide have averaged 4.74 yards per carry. They are rushing for 147.13 yards per game, which is ninth in the Southeastern Conference and 78 nationally.

On third and 7 early in the fourth quarter (versus Ole Miss), freshman left tackle Karyn Proctor stepped inside instead of picking up a blitz coming off the edge. Milroe was blindsided. Alabama has tried to help Proctor more by using TE’s to chip.

TTT - The key to beating LSU and its explosive offense is for Alabama’s offense to sustain drives. The key to sustaining an offense on long drives starts with the Oline and it’s a place LSU can cause this Alabama offense much havoc. Have enough faith in LSU’s defense to get the job done vs Alabama, enough faith to win the battle of the trenches. Alabama’s weakest links are at QB and Oline. Have enough faith in LSU’s defense up front to confuse both QB and Oline enough to get the job done.

LSU defense when they have faced a team with an offensive pulse: 45, 31, 55, 39. And we are missing our best d-lineman and corner. Just score baby

Not going to happen. Not enough horses. Bama will run and run . If their smart they hv watched game film and to this point against teams with a pulse our HC and DC can not make adjustments. Run, run, fake dive throw quick slant all night long. See Hogs /Omiss.

If we are going to have a chance to win this game, guys like Maason Smith and Savion Jones are going to have to play like everyone thought they would coming into the year.

Lulz

No faith in defense. Jayden will have to outscore them, which is possible, but will be tough. Our defense is historically bad.

You must put pressure on the QB. Kelly and House do not like rushing more than 4 which allows the QB to scan the field all day and throw.

Do I have faith? Well yea it’s college football and shite happens. On paper it won’t end well for this D, but that doesn’t mean they can’t show us something we haven’t seen. We need to play loose and fast, give the offense a chance.

Well said. Add in missing not just cb1, but cb2,3 aren't with the team even, and cb4 (welch) I've heard from an acadiana parent, is likely transferring eoy. Feeling like the ucf bowl game at cb.

Offense needs to be perfect

Bama is averaging almost 31 points per game.

LSU's two SEC road games against teams with a pulse were OM and Mizzou.

With the LSU game removed:
Ole Miss is averaging 37 points per game
Mizzou is averaging 33 points per game

Ole Miss scored 56 against the LSU defense
Mizzou scored 39 against the LSU defense

Bama is going to score around 40 points next Saturday. Can the LSU offense beat that type of production? It would take a nearly perfect game from the offense to do so against the best defense they have faced this season.

2021 LSU defense was pretty bad going into Tuscaloosa against Heisman winner Bryce Young. The 3 previous games they had given up 42, 42, and 31. They held Bama to 20. I'm not saying this defense is remotely capable of that but strange things happen in college football.

Everyone keeps bringing up past games but from 2nd Half of Mizzou on they have improved. Everyone forget how pitiful Damone Clark was for first 5-6 games. Maason is getting healthier. Perkins has settled into his role. Speights is finally healthy. Will need someone to step up with Wengo out but I think the defense can play well enough to keep us in the game. Offense will need to be at high level also.

Alabama’s offense and defense are both inconsistent, both are sometimes good but never consistently good in a game. Alabama will have to play their best game of the year to beat LSU, because LSU’s offense is the best in the country, it is virtually unstoppable. You can’t play inconsistent for a half or even a quarter against an offense like that.

3 of those teams are top 30 in Total Offense.

Bama’s 79th.

Nope. Even if we had the 85 Bears defense, Matt House would successfully scheme them to allow Bama to score 50.

Our defense is terrible at maintaining the edges. Letting Milroe outside to throw or run will kill us. We don't have the personnel to cover at all, much less to cover if Milroe extends plays. KJ Jefferson, Jordan Travis, and Jaxson Dart had huge days extending plays on us.

If we can generally keep Milroe in the pocket and minimize edge-busting runs, then we have a chance.

Alabama's defense is an "A" and LSU's offense is an "A+". That likely means 34-36 points for LSU. I am just not confident that LSU can hold Alabama under 40.
