Its a symptom of the times, not the coach. Same could be said about Bama players in recent years.
Don't romanticize Les Miles.

BIG CAT DRILL
Separate the men from the boys. I saw a lot of players on defense who just do not like contact and mixing it up.

Les pissed away Fournette’s career.

Les inherited a loaded program…and oversaw its descent

Lol same Les Miles team got their sh1t pushed in by Ole Miss, Arkansas, Miss State, Troy. Dude was barely .500% against the SEC the last several years of his run. His teams also quit on him. Selective memory
Now if you want to talk about recruiting…..Les was elite outside of OT recruiting. Not sure about Brian Kelly in recruiting yet or his priority in hiring elite recruiters. This staff has few skins on the wall in terms of proven recruiters

Which team had this at Kansas?
His 3-9 team or his 0-9 team?

Les had 2 hour practices in full pads everyday and had Some of the nastiest defenses lsu has ever seen year in and year out. Yeah he fricked us by refusing to change the offense, but one thing was always for certain with his teams, his defense was NEVER going to be pushed around. Those days are long gone

What does this even mean?
From LSUsports.net:
quote:
In only 32 games, worked his way all the way to No. 4 in LSU history in rushing yards with 3,830 … Finished career No. 2 in school history in all-purpose yards per game (155.7), No. 3 in overall touchdowns (42), No. 4 in rushing touchdowns (40) and all-purpose yards (4,981), No. 7 in scoring (252) and No. 8 in touchdowns responsible for (42) … Holds LSU career records for yards per carry (6.2), rushing yards per game (119.7), 200-yard rushing games (5), and consecutive 100-yard rushing games (9) … Overall, set or tied a total of 23 school records during his career (8 season, 5 game, 7 bowl, 3 career)
Was drafted number 4 overall in the NFL draft.
Was it a "waste" because he didn't win the Heisman?

Well it took him 11 years to descend with one National championship and playing for another along with being the 2nd winningest coach in LSU history so I'd say he held it up for a while after Saban's departure.
One has to wonder if Saban didn't find his way back into the SEC-W what could have been.

Fournette pissed it away in the nfl.

It was a waste because we never won more than 8 regular season games with a generational talent like LF

Les coached here for 11 seasons, fired part way into the 12th. He had 7 10+ win seasons and 2 trips to the NC game.
He had his faults, but he performed at a high level before it became apparent he wouldn't modernize his offensive philosophy.

He also had Saban’s players for the first 3 years.
For perspective Miles has a full cupboard, Kelly had a half empty cupboard that became even less.

I don't think Brian Kelly is influential. The players don't act like they have a focus or a mission. They seem surprised and excited everything they do something mildly right
