LB Whit Weeks – LSU
Whit Weeks earned the first start of his college career on Saturday, filling in for senior linebacker Omar Speights who was out with an injury. The true freshman was active in LSU’s 41-14 win at Mississippi State, as he was credited with a team-leading eight tackles. Weeks, who played 41 snaps, according to Pro Football Focus, made his presence felt early with a tackle for loss. The Watkinsville (Ga.) Oconee County product is a reliable tackler in space and should continue to settle into Matt House’s defensive scheme with added experience.
Weeks was a senior riser as a high school prospect, finishing as the No. 110 overall prospect in the 2023 On300.

I think Whit/Penn need to be the starters moving forward and Speights rotates in

Weeks needs to stay on the field. He looks like he more than belongs and will get better as he gets experience. He was very impressive.

Greg Penn had one of his best games Saturday. Him and Weeks are a good tandem. I had high hopes for Omar but Weeks is the real deal.

On3 has loved him since he was a recruit. They damn near put him as a 5* after the All-American game last year. What a great pick up looks like

Anyone else notice some if that ‘nastiness’ coming back yo the Defense?

Weeks needs to start from now on. He was all over the field Saturday. He does not play like a freshman at all. Just needs to rotate in and out with Speights. Agree, Penn and Weeks should be the starters.

Penn has been outstanding this year as well. He’s been much improved on getting off blocks

It was a very solid evaluation from the staff. Two more offseasons and he’ll be in the NFL with his size and speed

Man if only we had Tackett Curtis to run straight into blockers for 60 minutes. The possibilities!
In 3 games he has 2 solo tackles and 1 targeting ejection

Weeks is a football player. He has a nose for the ball and fills the gap quickly. He and Penn and Speights have made it possible to turn Perkins loose on the edge. He will be all SEC by next year. Maybe Freshman All American this year.

I remember when he was a 3 star and people on the rb were complaining about taking him

Lester Earl will be in here soon to tell everyone that On3 does not know wtf they talking about.

You should learn to separate an observation from criticism.

His critique was actually fair - Weeks did struggle a bit on outside runs.
But he's a freshman in his first game, which should be taken into account.
I'd like to see a nice rotation of Speights and Weeks until Weeks fully gets accustomed to the speed of the game at this level.
But no doubt the future is very bright for #40!

He had a very good game and was very impressive shooting the gaps. His closing speed was better than anticipated.

Don't tell Lester Earl that. He'll tell you Speights has played fine this year despite his terrible angles and complete whiffs allowing big runs.

Really like his motor.
