I know he’s a freshman and it’s unlikely that he will supplant Omar Speights at LB, because transfers seem to get first dibs at the job, but it speaks volumes about his ability to get the start today with Omar out. He lead the team in tackles and his ability to diagnose the play and meet the ball carrier at the line of scrimmage is what the position should look like. It will be interesting to see how much PT he gets going forward and how short the rope will be for Omar.

We are absolutely loaded at LB. I’d love to see Whit start and play more, but I don’t want to see Greg Penn sit down.

I agree. He has speed and instincts that our others don’t seem to. He will make some mistakes, but the staff needs to let the better player learn on the fly.

Same with Jackson on offense. He even looked good picking up blitzes in pass pro today. He’s also ready for a bigger role.

Careful or someone's going to call you a racist for thinking Weeks is better than Speights.

Or are we only playing the race game for QB?

There has been a lot less of that than I expected.

The staff finally benched Ovie and Lacy. Next is to keep Speights on the bench.

Completely agree. I've been saying since week one Speights is not living up to the hype. Weeks showed out today.

Traditionally, racism is reserved for the QB spot. It took 22 years if integrated NFL play before Lou Saban gave Marlin Briscoe the starting job in Denver in 1968.

Oh, racism was the only reason?

LB gets awful thin if he don't play.

I'm making a point to see if it's just some shitty posters that constantly race-bait for shits and giggles, or if they're consistent with their belief that any support of a player that happens to be white is rooted solely in racism.

I thought he played well for a freshman but he needs a year to become sec stater ready. Im just hoping a healthy Speights is alot better than what we have seen from him do far and he has just been dealing with injuries and getting healthy.

And why is that? He just showed he’s physically ready.

Boy, I'm about to be down voted to hell, but Perkins might slide to slot.
