Do we think Guidry stays in the pen next season

with Braswell and maybe a few more IF transfers they could keep him in a closing role.

I guess maybe it depends on what Guidry wants and what feedback scouts are giving. I don't follow pro ball, but is there a lot more $$ potential for a everyday SS over a closer/reliever?

I read on here a while back that he wants to play SS and would transfer if he didn’t

Guidry said last week he is playing nothing but SS this summer. Will pitch and play SS in fall……then we’ll see

He did an interview recently saying he was going to start taking reps at SS once this season was over.

He got thrown into the bullpen because we've lost 6 arms since Fall. He was needed.

It's not ludicrous. I doubt he has a future pitching professionally so he's going to pursue a path that could potentially take him to the MLB.

He was recruited to take over the SS position in 24.

I'm sure Jay will give him a chance to stick infield if that's what he wants to do and that's what they think his future will be

Not to criticize Guidry, but not many MLB relievers are throwing low 90's these days.

He will definitely have to show he can hit much better than he did in the fall and spring scrimmages and not getting those at bats is going to hurt him

It's awfully tough to go both ways in the SEC
Look at how Skenes has benefitted from focusing on pitching only

If he has the bat, he's our starting SS next season.

Seems like a pretty selfless guy to sacrifice for the team like that. I sincerely hope things work out professionally for him one position or the other.

Not sure how much of a sacrifice it was. Pitching got him onto the field.

That being said, he has a very athletic frame - he looks like he could have terrific range and athleticism. We know he'll have an absolute howitzer for a shortstop. He looks wiry and sneaky strong - like he could have Zach Watson power. I'm looking forward to seeing him play.

Depends, I am thinking Shores and Edwards are not going to be ready to go next season so there will have to be a few arms that need to step up either through the transfer portal or the newbies coming in.

If he's better than the South Carolina SS that just transferred then he should be play SS, pretty sure Thompson is gone.

The South Carolina transfer could play SS or 2B and Jay is gonna play the best player at SS

If he's the best SS on the team he will start there next season, but I still see him keeping up with pitching some because he's got some really good stuff there. To strike out 36 in 23.2 IP with a .182 BAA is absolutely absurdly good for a freshman. You dont just let that go.

HE could come in to close or setup in games next yea rin 8th/9th innings while a guy like Braswell takes over as defensive replacement at SS. Braswell is probably the best defensive SS on the team as of right now.

it also cost him tons of practice reps. it was a sacrifice and exactly what i would expect from him as he is one of the best leaders i have ever seen at the HS level. Kid is extremely selfless.

i think he starts somewhere in the middle infield next year.

hopefully he stays healthy with the back and is able to add a good bit of muscle, he needs to both for velo and for hitting.

and yea he has tons of range.

He said this week that he will be playing SS in summer ball. Did not mention any pitching.

Maybe Braswell was brought in to take over at 2B?

Guidry is serviceable given what we have lost and has the mental makeup to go out there and get the job done.

But let’s not act like he’s Mariano Rivera as a closer lol. He’s been great. But his future is middle infield.
