One of these is not like the other.

Good chance Taylor comes back if he feels like he can pitch later in the season next year since his injury happened before the season. He is just a draft eligible sophomore this year so he wont lose leverage by coming back.

Skenes at 3 would be a steal

Really sucks that we'll never really get to see him.
Imagine having him on this staff.

Keith Law is a gigantic gaping vagina.

I think it was the ESPN writer McDaniel suggested that neither Crews nor Skenes may go #1. Some industry insiders think high school OF Max Clark would sign for $1MM under slot if drafted #1.

That would still put his asking price at $8.7MM, which would put him somewhere between the 2nd and 3rd pick.
If I'm the Pirates, I don't know if that's enough of a discount considering how far away he is from the majors. They could sign Crews for $9MM (a reasonable amount) bank the extra $700K for other draftees, and have another piece to their young MLB core by late 2024.
Now, if they could get a guy to commit to taking 5th pick money and have another $1.6 to spread around, that would be intriguing.

He always refuses to say "Braves". Always refers to them as Atlanta

I have seen Max Clark play and he is no where near as polished as Crews

I’ve been checking in on Pirates Twitter throughout the season and there will be riots in the streets if this happens.

I could see Taylor leaving if he had a Lange or Nola type freshman year, but didn’t. I think he stays unless he’s just ready to move and/or gets drafted high

A high school kid is not as polished as a college junior, all-american. Shocking.

The entire wake forest team is in his top 200

Dylan Crews as a senior in high school wasn’t as polished as Dylan Crews.
It’s the baseball draft. Every team chooses players for whatever reason or the other. I’m not saying this is what is happening but if the Pirates don’t think they will be truly competitive for 5-6 years they may think the high school kid is a better option for their long term plan as he won’t be in the pros for 4-5 years when they are finished the rebuild. If they take Crews and he is in the pros in a year or 2 his arbitration would come up around the same time the high school player’s arbitration clock started.

I’m not saying he’s more polished than Dylan, but he definitely reminds me of a left handed Dylan Crews. Except he’s much more boisterous. Vandy commit, but would fit perfectly in Knoxville
