They are also struggling to get runners in from third with less than 2 outs so I don’t blame the coach for trying something different.

More than that - a coaching staff that has refused to bunt for months, then all of a sudden wants some of his struggling hitters to somehow know how to bunt in big scenarios.

Guy was blocking the plate before he had the ball. That play should have been appealed. It may have been overturned

You can’t bunt in to the pitcher if you want that play to work.

The call wasn’t terrible. You can’t bunt it right back to the pitcher on a safety squeeze. If it would have been executed properly the call would be getting praised.

A safety squeeze isn’t suppose to be bunted back to the pitcher. It should be put down the opposite side the pitcher falls off.
