One of the most jarring aspects of CMM’s performance this season was his lack of emotion. He didn’t argue with the refs, he didn’t get emotional at bad calls, and he didn’t get emotional or angry when players made mistakes. He was extremely bland and monotone which was concerning due to how our team was performing.

It was nice to see him get fired up and emotional the last few games of the season. Sure, he still yelled at his bald assistant a bunch, but it was nice to see him yell at bad calls and argue with refs. It was nice to see him pull players aside and try to coach them up.

I remember at some of the last few home games like Vanderbilt it was so quiet in there that I could actually hear him yelling. It was a nice change of pace from him just being quiet the whole time.

Don’t get me wrong, he still sucks. Our program should never be in such a bad spot that the loudest noise in the arena is the squeaking of the shoes. It was pathetic and embarrassing.

I agree that he showed improvement in that degree. Deciding to stop just holding your chest was a definite improvement.

I don't think that's his inherent personality though, took a bit.

He wouldn't need it if he had better command of coaching and the team too imo.

I don’t think you have to be emotional courtside to be a successful coach. I don’t think John Wooden was.

So you're saying he reached the end of the grief cycle, acceptance.

I'm not saying you have to be either. When you're winning and successful, you can be stoic.

That being said, what is unacceptable is being in the middle of a double digit losing streak and looking apathetic on the sideline.

It’s kind of concerning that he suddenly started being more vocal right at the end of the season. You’re right it’s probably not his personality which is fine for some coaches if it’s effective for them. But why wait so long to try to inject some passion if that was what he was really doing? It’s just weird. Dude really made no adjustments all season.
