I almost had forgotten how much better LSU started playing that year once Herb Tyler was the starter.
First 7 Power 5 games: 16 ppg
Final 3 Power 5 games: 37 ppg

Herb had no problems competing mayne, he wanted to stay in Baton Rouge and put on that yella jersey, mayne

I love Herb Tyler but to be fair, Jamie had to face Texas A&M, Auburn, and Florida’s defenses and most of the bama game before he broke his collarbone that year.

Can you imagine if we had the triple option with Herb Tyler, Kevin Faulk, and Cecil Collins! lol

Yes, Jamie was decent that season, he deserved to have that.

We all fondly remember that 1995 season. But other than the Auburn upset (which was a 12-6 game), LSU didn't do much of note in the first 9 games. They were 4-4-1 with the only other "big win" being over a bad Mississippi St team. LSU's offense, team, and program took off tremendously after the Alabama game when they beat two SEC teams with winning records (Ole Miss and Arkansas) by a combined 66-9, before beating Michigan State by (nearly) 3 TDs.

Kendall Cleveland, Rondell Mealy, Tommie Banks.......yeah, the thought crossed my mind often about that back then.

The FL game was great. His TD run and jump/spin in endzone still fires me up

Love the numbering on those jerseys.

I was at his first game against Ole Miss. He burned his redshirt late in the year. I remember it was pretty vanilla the first game, but he was highly efficient and very calm.

Tommy Banks should have started every game at FB
