Why You Should Not Want This To Happen (If You Are An SEC FAN)...Seriously.

After digging down through all of the BS and chaos that is currently swirling around the conference expansion and realignment fiasco, the base reality is quite simple:
The Pac12 stands to gain a lot more from conference expansion and realignment than the SEC. That is the bottom line.
If the trigger is pulled and the realignment carousel begins to spin, the Pac12 will become the Pac16 and make new members of Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Texas Tech. Their new conference will look like this:
West Coast Division - Washington, Washington State, Oregon, Oregon State, California, Stanford, UCLA, USC.
Frontier Division - Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, Utah, Oklahoma, Texas, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech.
Meanwhile, the SEC will add two new members in Texas A&M and West Virginia or Missouri. We will not add an ACC team so forget about a Virginia Tech or a Clemson or a Florida State because it will not happen.
So lets break that down once again because the differences are stark: Pac12 adds Texas, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State. SEC adds Texas A&M and West Virginia or Missouri.
This would be a tremendous move forward for the Pac12 that would in fact trump any move by the SEC. Their expansion would be massively greater than our expansion in just about every quantifiable category: students, alumni, money, political/government influence, history, on field success, television audience, and conference footprint. Forget about talk of getting those Texas viewers; the vast majority of them will be watching Texas, Texas Tech, and Oklahoma...not A&M. The balance of power would be permanently and immediately altered.
I think Slive is aware of this very real possibility and I believe it could very well be playing a significant role in his deliberative and passive approach to expansion (A&M). He wants to have options ready in the event the dominos begin to fall but he may very well wish that he not need to use them. In the end, conference realignment and expansion is more in the best interests of the Pac12 than the SEC.
Here is hoping it does not happen.

There's a decent chance the PAC only adds the Oklahoma schools.

The logistics that would be required if all those teams joined the PAC 12 would be insane.

The PAC at 12 teams will probably generate more than the current SEC ever could.

That's why we need to get OU. Then the Lack-12 has no good options outside of MWC/WAC schools.

you can be a jackass all you want, but he is probably right.
a) the LSU chancellor said expansion would come via new states, so that eliminates clemson or fsu.
b) vt is a longshot anyways, due to political dealings that got them into the acc in the first place
c) slive/sec doesnt want to pull a team from a conference that already has a CCG. its much easier to take a team from a smaller league that doesnt have as much to lose in terms of revenue.

OSU is saying reports they would join a lawsuit against the SEC and TAMU were incorrect. That tells me they are keeping their options open, and going to the PAC12 isn't a done deal.

so wvu, lets see how they play us!

I really hadn't thought about it from this perspective before. Interesting.
Personally, as an OSU fan, I'd rather be in a fortified B12...simply because that's all I've known. If the B12 can't be fortified, I'd prefer SEC but PAC would be better than B12-2-1.

I took the time to gather all the info so I could specifically point out how your post is wrong.
Texas
63-15 record
4 top 10 finishes
5 top 25 finishes
4 BCS bowls (3-1)
2 conference championships
Oklahoma
62-19 record
3 top 10 finishes
5 top 25 finishes
4 BCS bowls (1-3)
4 conference championships
Texas Tech
53-23 record
4 top 25 finishes
Oklahoma State
47-29 record
1 top 10 finish
3 top 25 finishes
Texas A&M
40-35 record
1 top 25 finish
Missouri
55-24 record
3 top 25 finishes
West Virginia
60-17 record
3 top 10 finishes
5 top 25 finishes
2 BCS bowls (2-0)
2 conference championships
Missouri and A&M you could argue are comparable to Oklahoma State and Texas Tech and West Virginia absolutely has punched above its weight over the past several years. However, none of the teams have the overall on field success of Texas or Oklahoma.

Is your dick that small that you have to be greater than the Pac-whatever?
The SEC is great, & will continue to be so no matter what other conferences do.

Alright...I did a little more research.
Considering TV contracts, the SEC currently has contracts in place with ESPN and CBS that pay the conference $3.1B over the life of the agreements. With these contracts, the SEC reaches the greatest and widest viewing audience in college football. And these contracts were negotiated back in 2007. The consensus is that the payment to the SEC would be significantly greater if negotiated today.
The Pacific 12 just negotiated their new TV contracts with ESPN and Fox that will pay them $3B over the life of the agreements. They just completed the contracts in May of this year.
I have not checked into the actual numbers, but I know that the SEC sells more tickets than the Pacific 12 does by a wide margin.
So, all of this is further evidence of why you do not want conference realignment and expansion. Adding Texas, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, and Oklahoma State will do much more to further the interests, reach, and power of the Pacific 12 than adding A&M and Missouri or West Virginia would do for the SEC.

Do you have anything to offer that refutes the facts above other than your meaningless elementary school retort?

Adding the TX and OK schools will give national appeal to the PAC. Aside from USC, this is something they've whined and pined about. Not to mention the Texas TV markets.
Agree a PAC-16 would trump an expanded SEC in total TV revenue and probably as soon as it's formed.

Also lets them play games in the central time zone instead of everyone on the east coast forgetting they are still playing games once the primetime ones are over.
