KC are pro sports towns,
Chiefs and Royals are pretty popular in KC, but the city hosted the Big-12 hoops tourney most years and KU and MU play football at Arrowhead and baseball at Kaufmann. City is split pretty evenly among KU and MU fans. Definitely a college sports town, especially during hoops season.

"Why, yes, it does....
Plus, you have St. Louis as a site for football and basketball championship site."
I can tell you that will NEVER happen. The Championship games belong in the SOUTH. I live in St. Louis, but there is NO WAY that would ever happen.
Don't send all the fans up here when you have a perfectly good thing going in Atlanta.

My picks are:
1) A&M (done deal, evidently)
2) OU (balance, keeps the Pac-12 weak)
3) Va Tech (nice rivalry with Tenn; schools are 3 hrs apart)
4) UNC/NC State (need to crack the NC/DC market)
If we can't get all of those, Mizzou is an acceptable subsitute in the west and WVU in the east.

I think, if anything, these rumors show that the "gentlemen's agreement" is probably true. Also, the ACC is tighter than first imagined. It seems like it would be a little harder to pry an ACC team like VT away than first imagined.

No thank you, fsu, VA tech or bust

Missouri will be the 14th team. Book it.

Chip Brown says it is WVU. And isn't he like a diety out there in Tejas...he knows all, right?

either Va Tech or FSU. Hope these are our options.
Agreed.
Nothing against West Virginia. I'm sure it's a fine school. But their big rival is Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh is hell and gone from SEC country.
I'd rather we just give Vandy the boot than add West Virginia.

FWIW, our most heated rivalry has always been VT. Pitt's just kind of "been there" the longest. VT left for the ACC and ended the series as soon as they could for "unknown" reasons. The perfect scenario for us would be Mizzou, VT, and WVU all joining the SEC and force the VT/WVU rivalry to resume.

I'll take you, I'm one of the few that actually likes Basketball.
And Garcia, Holgorsen and Huggins can burn cities down.

If Huggins ever coaches/has coaches against Gillispie they probably just keep a whiskey bottle on the scorer's table.

Like I've always said, the ACC stands united. Stay away and stop poaching.

You know when people ask you those hypothetical questions ask certain people to dinner?
if WVU joins the SEC.
Im inviting Holgorsen, Huggins and Stephen Garcia.

I think it ends up being WVU, not because of new markets or because they are a great team, but because of the following:
1. Priority #1 has always been finding a way to add aTm. The Texas market they bring is so valuable, we could have made Appalachian St #14 and it would still be a profitable expansion.
2. The only way Slive could get 9 votes for aTm was by assuring the presidents that 1)No in state rivals would be added, and 2)No schools will be forced to change divisions. If Mizzou is added, Auburn has to move East and that creates an automatic no vote from Auburn, Tennessee, and Alabama.
WVU adds little, but it is a school that does not cause any conference to implode (avoids a tortious interference suit), and allows for aTm to join. In the end, school number #14 has always been about convincing 9 presidents to approve the deal at all.

This seems extremely plausible. I think they would be willing to sacrifice a weaker TV market/$ addition in WVU to get into Texas, and they wouldn't be completely selling out on how competitive the league is or the general geography.

Exactly. School #14 is not about adding another awesome team/market. It is about finding a way to keep the SEC presidents happy enough to add aTm. aTm to the SEC does not happen if you have Florida, USC, and Georgia all worried about having their rival join the conference or if Auburn is concerned they will be forced East and Bama and Tennessee think their rivalry game will end.

This what I've been saying all along. School number 14 has to go to the East. The Presidents will only support additions if the divisions remain intact. W.V. brings enough up side to bring them along considering A&M is the flip side of the coin. Overall it's a win for the Confrrence as we close in on school 15 & 16.
The general consensus is now we go out and grab a football school for the East. Virginia Tech is the obvious choice to come into the East. The West will probably pick up Missouri but don't think some of the remaining Big 12 schools won't make a play for the SEC.
This whole expansion is about security going into the future. If the theory of 4 Super Conferences comes true then there will be 64 teams. What happens to the rest of those schools such as TCU, Texas Tech, ect. Nobody wants to get left out in the cold. The PAC 12, SEC, Big 10, and ACC will be all there is left.
