PLAYOFF

Why do you want a playoff? Does the regular season games actually mattering bother you?

Have you not been reading the thread at all? If the conference expands, it voids the current contract, forcing CBS and ESPN to pay even more money for new contracts, meaning more money for everybody.

I'd think that the addition of more schools would mean the conference can renegotiate for a much larger contract.

on another note.

Is this the end of the Conference expansion board?

Agree. Let the fans drink all day and unleash hell at 7 or 8 pm.

i seriously doubt that ESPN and CBS allow the SEC to choose 1 new team and void that long-term contract

I still believe the SEC isn't going to pull the trigger on expansion until it has two teams to bring it at the same time ala Ark and USC-e the last time around.
This is very true, and there's even more to it than that. While every member is ok with A&M joining, not everybody could unanimously agree on #14. And while it takes just nine votes to admit a new member (must be more than 2/3 of current members), a few of the university presidents have openly stated that all the schools really prefer an addition to be unanimous. Therefore, if one member school is adamantly opposed to a team's addition, the conference will be reluctant to add them. And, being that the conference is keen on staying at an even number apparently, that puts A&M on the backburner until #14 is determined.

It would be fun to have a rival but i agree ab not wanting a playoff, other than a plus 1, and am not really for their addition bc of recruiting implications.

This argument is incredibly flawed. Regular season games will always matter in the SEC because of the competitiveness and animosity the fan bases and teams have toward each other.

Well they wouldn't start until 2012 for football anyway so it gives the conference a full year to look for another school as well. I'd think they'd be looking for another school.

It would be pretty similar to all the rivalries we already have; they still have UT, just like OM has State and Bama and Auburn have each other

You're the one that asked why. Some people like S&M, but I think that sounds horrible.

4 conference champs in two BCS games, plus a championship game sound great to me. Piss off if it doesn't to you.

They have no choice. This has already been discussed on ESPN multiple times. Expansion tears up the contract. It's a fact. Do you really think Slive & Co. didn't see this coming when they agreed to the current contract?

I sort of buy that to a point but when a team drops a game, and then moreso there second it completely changes the dynamic of their season. I like the no room for error nature of the BCS.
