Well, my understanding is A&M hasn't applied for the membership yet, at least not formally until their BoR meeting tomorrow, right? So why would SEC vote now if there was no formal application? I would think this SEC meeting was to get everyone on the same page, and wait for A&M to take care of their business first?

This is what it is.

At first I read this and was disappointed... however upon re-reading, I ran across this little snippet of info...
So tomorrow when the aTm BOR authorizes the prez to reach out to the SEC, it won't be the SEC's fault. I wouldn't be surprised if they actually talked about who they want to invite.
P.S. Did anyone else notice that a bunch of news stations were wrong about this meeting NOT taking place?

We recognize, however, that future conditions may make it advantageous to expand the number of institutions in the league. We discussed criteria and process associated with expansion.

I don't think anyone knows what it is, serious spinning going on both sides of this deal. All I can do is:

If this expansion gets the 2:30 Death Valley games removed I'll all for it!

Yep.
Well, that and speculate.
I think this deal will fall through because none of the teams the SEC wanted to add wanted to join. The ACC stood strong, which is going to leave A&M out in the wind.

haha ... I would laugh until I cried. Then laugh some more ... then slip into a life-ending depression. haha
I've no idea what the crap's going on. I'd heard the process wouldn't happen as quickly as most were hoping, but this crap definitely makes me nervous.

Why vote now? It's a brilliant ploy for the eventual court case that is likely to arise.
The SEC can go into any court, and say 'You know, anything we may have said before the 14th, and any back and forth contacts that we initiated that might have been actionable were rendered moot. On Monday, Texas A&M decided it would make a full and formal application, hoping a petition initiated by them with the full organized backing of the institution's recognized decision makers would change our prior position of rejection.
Unlike previous contacts which never had a formal endorsement, we felt we could move forward with expansion based upon finally having substantive materials and requests, pursuant to our guidelines for application to join, and that the administration of Texas A&M was behind the process.
Then again, the Faggies may have just got their junk knocked in the dirt, again.

They didn't want OSU to be 2-9 in bowl games against the SEC.
