The SEC can't take action until after the BOR meeting, anyway. This is posturing to avoid litigation.

EmperorGout is correct. All smoke and mirrors.

I wouldn't be surprised by this. The SEC is a great conference as it is, why expand? This is very beneficial for A&M but what do the SEC schools get out of this?

More money. If FSU and aTm join, it tears up those huge contracts the SEC signed with CBS and ESPN. The two networks will then offer even more money to the conference to cover games.

Liucci says our Board of Regents is going to meet tomorrow to give President Loftin the ability to negotiate our conference affiliation on our behalf.

I think the SEC can't respond until aggies do to avoid any lawsuits.

I still believe the SEC isn't going to pull the trigger on expansion until it has two teams to bring it at the same time ala Ark and USC-e the last time around.

Slive would look like an idiot if he ended up with 13 for multiple years.

I disagree more money and more tv exposure = improving your squads

Not like they are winning shite anyways. Oh wait..

Does going to 14 teams void your current contract?

No offense, but I would laugh hard if ya'll got rejected, simply because UT would never let you live it down.

Reopening negotiations on the conference's TV deals is the main reason on the SEC's side for expansion. Our contract is now obsolete compared to the new deals for the Pac-12, etc.

Also, I think the SEC wants an actual network (ala the Big 10 Network) instead of the carbon copy of Jefferson Pilot that we did with ESPN.

They just announced that on the ESPN radio here in Baton Rouge a minute ago. Said that's for today, no telling what will happen on Monday.

You don't publicly seal a deal based on backchannel negotiations. You create the illusion that legal and ethical protocols are followed to the letter to cover your own asses.

If any of you have ever been in charge of hiring people you'll know exactly what I mean.

this is all a tactic to avoid litigation from the big 12. besides they can't vote on extending an invite to a school which hasn't even applied for admission yet. ATM will do that tomorrow at the earliest.

certainly some interesting maneuvering is being done right now.

Expansion of any number will void the contracts.
