I understand that the potential impact on television ratings makes Texas a desirable member of the conference. But if the Texas administration is anything like its fans, Texas will be a very divisive influence in the SEC. Texas and its fans cannot accept being one among equals.

I think we are lucky that Texas wants no part of the SEC.

They will be unbelievably hated in the Pac-16.

I personally do not think the SEC wants them for that very reason.

They're very similar, but Texan superiority takes it to a new level.

They are not close to Bama fans for the most part. The Gumps are arrogant but Texas fans are just fricking pricks imo.

Bama is arrogant about their football program but they're good. Everyone in the SEC with a decent program is arrogant about it. But nobody in the SEC acts like elitist pricks as if they are the only school that has anything of worth to offer. Texas acts that way in everything. Look no further than this situation.

I think both of the below comments are absolutely accurate.

Hell no they don't and it has nothing to do with academics. What is has to do with is getting bitch slapped by at least two conference opponents each season.

as much as i hate arrogant bama fans, they really are no comparison for texas fans. Bama fans are only arrogant in football. Texas fans are arrogant about every aspect of life.

If Texas does move to the pac whatever then they might as well just have the winner of the pac whatever play the winner of the SEC every year. and no one would be upset except Ohio St fans. but even they would understand

Better yet--having the Pac-10 champ meet the Big 10 champ meet on the same week as the SEC title game, with the two winners meeting for the BCS title game. Makes plenty of sense to me considering the SEC has been in -- and won -- all four stand-alone BCS title games.

Other reasons against UT are: (1) LSU, with Alabama and UT in the West, would at best make it to the SEC championship game once every three years and at worst, well, we shall see; and (2) cultural differences. Texas, because of the demographic influx of illegal aliens, stands to grow apart rapidly from Southern and American culture. This difference is not likely to manifest itself right away, but in 10 years, the change could be enormous. Hopefully, the size of the SEC would offset this difference. Texas A&M would be enough Texas. A&M will bring many fans and their share, at least, of recruits.

If UT and A&M must come, then Ok should be asked to complete the West. To complete the East, the SEC could ask VT, UNC, and Fla. St. (or Clemson or GA Tech). If things get crazy, also add Missouri and Cincinnati (since Ohio is a top five state for recruits).

TU is looking for their third conference in 16 years. I know TAMU is as well but TU has a bigger hand in the Big XII failing than anybody. You can mention Mizzou (which is still funny as hell to me), Nebraska, and Colorado but if TU wanted the Big XII to really work, they alone have it in their power to do so.

Arkansas fans can be borderline neurotic (still) with Texas hatred.

We put up with those frickheads for 76 years, and have played them semi regularly since 1991.

I think you understand us better now.

Wait, what? You don't want Texas in the SEC because in 10 years they will be a Mexican school?
