Supposedly Mizzou is leaking more stuff and the AP got a hold of some 45-page document about pros of SEC.

If they keep shuffling paper, they'll be left reading about WVU being admitted into the SEC instead of them in the Sunday paper.

To me this sounds like they are very busy and active right now. What else are they supposed to do? Mobilize and invade the SEC region to its capital in Birmingham?

It also envisions a far bigger share -- up to $12 million -- should the SEC renegotiate its top-tier TV rights.

So these guys think that A&M and Missouri bring to the table an extra 200 million a year????

(12 million X 14 teams) + 19.25 million A&M + 19.25 million Missouri = 206.5 million

No, but they do think the SEC contract is undervalued relative to the PAC and other contracts. The hope is that they get relative value vs. what others have done since the SEC contracts were signed. It is a gamble.

that's right. What a lot of people don't seem to be considering is that even if the SEC had stayed at 12 teams, any renegotiation would bring in more money at this point.

It's not much of a gamble considering the current contracts are undervalued and the addition of A&M by itself increases the SEC footprint by ~40%, via 21 million new viewers. Mizzou adds another 6 mil. I've seen other projections that when factoring in a potential SEC Network, teams could see 35+ mil that would increase as the SEC Network became more profitable.

I agree with you on the economics of a cable network. You assume a certain number of households and x amount per subcriber. If each state gets an equal penetration of households for the SEC network, adding two schools with high populations is a winner for all schools.

If the SEC were starting from scratch as far as TV contracts go, it would be a no brainer. Who knows how the existing contracts get renegotiated though. I assume the SEC offices have a good handle on it, but there are other parties involved (ESPN/CBS) who may push back.

Not to mention this places the SEC in a very favorable position in regards to tier 3 rights with the creation of an SEC network (similar to the B1G 10 network).

the price has gone up since the SEC signed their contract

I'm also tempted to argue that with an extra two teams that means an extra 16 games a year to choose from for broadcasting - provided the SEC is creative with their scheduling there could be fewer down weeks for SEC football (weeks where bad games are on CBS in the afternoon)

I have a feeling that this is the reason it goes to a nine game schedule. More product. For eveyone except TAMU, it is all about the money.

Personally, I hate that this is what is driving the bus, but we all know it is.

This is the reason the SEC could get get more money.

Adding a team or 2 would have to open up talks for renegotiating the contract. In no way would it be because Missouri in particular is added to the conference. How likely is it that a Missouri versus anybody would be the best game of the week? Once every 3-5 years?

I've heard since day one that contract renegotiations could be worth as much as 32-34 million per team before Tier III rights. If the SEC starts a network, which they absolutely should, SEC schools could be rolling in some serious cash.

I think Mizzou is still hoping for B1G invite and this is to get some attention from the big ten.
