Sounds like they've got the tarp situation covered, no need for Baylor's tarp consulting services.

Dude in all honesty, give tulane five years in the big twelve and see if attendance/income/recruiting/winning don't come that much easier for them. They have the resources but are not in a position to use them. In the long run, let me restate long run, Tulane could possibly be taking some in state talent from LSU.
Also the opportunity for those B12 schools to play in the Mercedes- Benz Superdome is a pretty sweet deal for them. They might even start jacking some recruits as well.

I actually hope this happens. Perhaps it would spur Tulane to better their program and build an on campus stadium. That will only help the city and state.
That being said, no way in frick this happens.
Yep. Think it would be pretty great but I just can't see it happening at all.

I think that'd be good for the Big 12, Louisiana, and Tulane. Who knows maybe Tulane could pull some good recruits going to a better conference.

makes sense to me. I don't see why the Big 12 wouldn't target both LA Tech and Tulane. Good fit geographically and gets their footprint in LA. How Tech in the WAC makes sense to anyone is beyond me.

Tulane is a private school that caters to wealthy out of town kids, and majority of their team is still made up of players from out of state, thats why they have no fan base.
No one feels a connection to tulane, its just there, plain, boring and way to uptight to tap into the football loving fan base of New Orleans and the surrounding areas.
Over the years they've done this to themselves, they don't embody the vibe and spirit of new orleans. The locals don't care about tulane anymore. Haven't since the 80's

I'm sure Tulane was thrown on a whiteboeard with a dozen other schools in a brainstorming session....but let's be real. This ain't happening.

Unlikely, but Tulane does bring a few things to the table--a presence in Louisiana, the Superdome, gives the other Bevos the opportunity to tell local players "you'll make a couple trips home during your career". Even having bad teams can be a positive (easy conference wins).
The biggest negative is the lack of a fan base, but that could change with the infusion of B(C)S money.

quote:LSU does not want Texas playing every other year in the dome with the majority of the crowd. It took them years to get NO on lockdown. Wouldn't want a repeat of the old day when you watched players like Reggie Wayne, Kordell Stewart, and Ed Reed help out of state teams win national titles.
They might even start jacking some recruits as well.

LSU would have to start up the home-and-home with Tulane every year again.
And if Tulane ever built an on-campus stadium, we'd probably have to play a neutral-site game in the Dome every year with them.

If Tulane worked its way into an automatic qualifier conference, and OU and UT were coming to N.O. every other year for games, not to mention the possibility of playing a BXII title game in N.O., it'd definitely be a pain in the arse for LSU.
There'd be a lot more competition for kids like Beckham, Jr., Vinson, Freak Johnson and Mathieu., that's for sure.

More shoddy ESPN reporting
I could see Tulane in Big East though
I'm sure Tulane would let the Longhorn Network televise all their games as well

Even tulane draws well when playing bigger named opps.
Unless you consider 20,000 drawing well.
That said, Tulane should do everything humanly possible to make this deal happen. It would be the greatest thing to happen to Tulane in its history.

Probably a session where they say "let's get a list of all FBS schools"

Big 12 adding tulane would be great for tulane but not so great for big 12. Tulane is a distant 3rd in new orleans after saints and LSU. There are high school games that draw more fans than tulane games.
Tulane will be a doormat in football and I don't think athletes from LA will all the sudden go play in BIG 12.
SEC is still king and big 12 is perceived to be unstable and boring.

Would be good for the state and we all know Tulane has been struggling(Sports wise)-good school as far as academics and should help them get to the next level from a revenue stand point in sports to grow. Good for Louisiana.
