OU President in press conference today, announced that conference presidents granted TV rights to the conference for 6 years. Any team leaving during that period would offer NO TV revenue to their prospective conference for that period. Any revenue produced by that team would go to Big12.

Wow! Certainly more creative then the ACC buyout. A&M may yet be in bondage!

Until this is settled in the legal system, will the SEC agree to subsidise the Big12((10-1) with revenues earned in the SEC or just say "we tried, maybe next time "?

If upheld in the "TX " courts, this could solidify the Big12 (10-1) for the next 6 years.

The plot thickens.

The thing I saw said that would not apply to A&M, it is for teams that agree to stay in the conference.

im thinking that applies to the other 9, which would solidify mizzou to the big 9.

This is a complete non-starter. The Big XII wouldn't be able to hold A&M to any new exit stipulations.

Totally wasted post; A&M already served notice prior to any of these latest attempts at "rule making".

The Nine remaining institutions pledged their future TV rights for the next 6 years, which longer than the current TV contract. They did this today. This was done to keep those nine institutions together when the next contract comes up. A&M is not one of the remaining institutions. They are leaving. LINK

This will be in the court for years. Today A&M is a member of the Big12(10-1) subject to the conference regulations. Baylor is giving prayers of thanks - takes them out of the lead counsel role with legal fees headed to the conference.

Hard ball & high stakes poker - no place for the timid & weak. Ugly times ahead - gonna test Slive's metal

Not addressed Thursday, however, were issues surrounding Texas. The Longhorns had already proposed equal revenue sharing but also said it won't make changes to its controversial 20-year, $300 million contract with ESPN for the Longhorn Network. Boren said any changes to the Longhorn Network would have to be considered by a special panel to be appointed by Big 12 board chairman Brady Deaton, Missouri's chancellor. Boren said that panel would likely be chosen by Friday.

The moment they sign the six year agreement, Texas has zero incentive to cooperate in any way with the "special panel." I absolutely cannot believe that OU is getting dragged around by their balls like this.

"Thank you sir! May I have another?"

Agreed. I used to think that OU was a fairly stout institution. If I were an Okie I would be more than embarrassed about the "lack of a spine" OU administrators have demonstrated thought all of this.

And the funny part no one has brought up is that Deloss Doods used to work for the interim commissions Chuck Neinas.

Talk about a bunch of pussies---wow!

Texas going to hold them hostage for 6 years and then bolt for greener pastures. 6 years for the LHN to be on alot of cable networks. I don't believe it will be on alot of them outside of Texas. If they add it to my direct tv package i will just tell them i don't want to pay for it.lol

Maybe the thread that binds the remaining Big 12-2-1 members is the want to inflict misery on Texas A&M. Maybe the remaining big twelve members have finally found something they can all agree on.
