I'd take Kansas just for the basketball rivalries.

That is why the Mountain West should jump all over this. If they could add Kansas, K-state, Missouri, Boise, and hell maybe even Baylor they could restructure to get up around 12 teams and be a legit conference.

I would imagine the SEC would try to go raid the ACC before they would ever think about Mizzou

If you're the Big10, would you take Kansas or Mizzou? Hmmm

Kansas has a great basketball program but probably loses out on every other comparison

maybe the most important issue? Population in Missouri is around 6 million - with one flagship school. Population in Kansas is around 2.8 million with two flagship schools

If Missouri is passed over I'd think it would be for a Rutgers or maybe a Maryland - Kansas seems like a no go

Mizzou brings a better TV market than anything in the ACC.

SEC should be all over either Mizzou or KU.

Mizzou and Nebraska didn't start this. Texas did by openly solicting bids from the Pac-10 and Big 10. It's just that Mizzou badly misplayed their hand. Nebraska is bolting because Texas screwed them but good back when they formed this horrorshow of a conference.

Who was the team that got switched out for BC when ACC expanded in 03?

Mizzou reminds me of them

It was Syracuse that got left out because the Governor of Virginia required UVA to vote for Va Tech instead.

Why would the SEC want Kansas? They would just be another mouth to feed (a la Kentucky). At least Mizzou brings eyeballs with them that might increase the SEC's TV package.

In a heartbeat. Posted it many times but expansion isn't about getting great football teams, its about the market and revenue.

Raiding the ACC, unless its VT or UNC does little to nothing for the SEC. The B10 and PAC10 are expanding geographically. The SEC will be forced to do the same.

They are more to blame than Nebraska for the demise of the Big XII.

Their governor proposed them going to the Big 10 because he thought they were getting screwed by the Big XII financially.

They inquired about it and started the ball rolling on this deal.

After the Big 10 asessed the situation, they decided expansion was a good idea but they didn't want Missouri.

Missouri was fifth in their list of teams to offer behind Notre Dame, Texas, Nebraska and fricking Rutgers.

The rumor after the Big XII presidents met this week was if the conference had been able to stay together, they would have thrown Missouri out.

Which is why adding Mizzou and Va Tech to the SEC is a good play.

They should freak out. After smugly starting this crap, it's only fitting that they are left without the chair when the music stops.

Absolutely agree. 100%. The usual geographic S.E. teams thrown out do not interest me and would do little for geographic expansion.

CBS and ESPN are driving this expansion deal. They do want the great matchups though.

I am sure they are trying, but none of those teams are going to agree to the MWC until all other options are used up. Why else would the MWC turn down adding Boise on Monday?
