I mean absolutely no offense to Bama or Tennessee as programs, but the fact that particular game has held up so many things in the SEC over the years has many people

It's not like Bama-Tenn would never play....How anyone can be opposed to rotating cross-division opponents is beyond me. It's pretty much indisputable that the equitable way to play cross-division games is for them to rotate for everyone.

This is all going to seem really moot when A&M starts dominating the conference.

is it a foregone conclusion that a 9-game conference schedule is out of the question?

Holdouts are Tennessee and Alabama who want to maintain their permanent cross-division rivalry.

Good.

Its currently a unanimous vote if Missouri is slotted to the SEC East.

Then offer them a spot in the SEC East and their cross divisional opponent can be Arkansas.

That leaves Florida getting Texas A&M and LSU getting South Carolina.

That would be silly. I've got too much hate invested in Florida. We need 10 more victories like this year's win. If the Gators plead for mercy, then and only then can we discuss having a new cross divisional rival. Pair up A&M with Carolina and be done with it.

I agree that's the most fair way to do it.

I thought LSU fans would have been happier with this news. Running away from Florida is your number 1 goal in this expansion, isn't it?

What's the problem?

I love the idea of dumping Florida.

Unfortunately, the fact that the most recent game was completely one-sided in our favor makes me want to keep them around a couple of years so that we can enact payback for the Spurrier years, where that fricker would run the score up to 55-3 because he was so butthurt about Archer getting the job over him in '87.

Then shouldn't you be happy about getting South Carolina?

Ironically, Florida will probably fall off LSU's schedule as a permanent and Florida will probably suck for the next decade.

LSU pulls lots of recruits from Florida in part because we play there every other year

I hope we get to keep doing so.

The most overhyped and unprovable meme in the history of the Interwebz:

"We get lots of recruits from [fill in the blank state] because we play a game in [fill in the blank state]."

By the way, we have 6 players on our current roster from the state of Florida. We have 15 players from the state of Texas. We haven't played Texas A&M during the regular season since 1995. If your theory is true, then why do we have so many more players from Texas? Other than the Cotton Bowl (2003 and 2011) and this year's game against Oregon, LSU hasn't played a game in the state of Texas since 1995. Not one regular season game in Texas against a Texas school since 1995.

And yes, I know Texas has 24 million people versus the 18 million in Florida but that still doesn't account for why we have 2.5 times more players from Texas than Florida.

My first preference remains getting an ACC school to the East (FSU, Clemson, NC State, Va Tech).

Assuming that is out of the question, I say add Missouri and put them in the East. Keep all current cross-division rivalries except Arkie-SC and change it to:

Missouri-Arkansas (they are border rivals and just make too much sense not to play each other year).

That leaves A&M-SC which is kind of dumb, but oh well, I think it is the best possible.

And geez LSU needs to stop b*tching about playing Florida every year. Not sure what part of "each of the Big Six has a perm cross-division rivalry with another of the Big Six" they don't understand. No, it isn't perfect, but these things are balances of lots of competing interests...

LSU as a school has been extra fricking cool. Doing what is best for the SEC throughout all of this. So has Arkansas.

Bama is already a pain in the arse

What concession has LSU or Arkansas made to be cool? Voting no to a proposal that does not benefit you is not being a "pain in the arse".

I can already tell Bama will be aTm's new "Texas": aka the school they blame all their problems on.

Finally an LSU fan with some balls that does not bitch about having to play a Big 6 team from the opposite division like all the other Big 6 teams have to.

Name one thing it has held up outside of Mizzou to the SEC west.

Actually it is not. Perma games where each Big 6 team (the only 6 teams to win the SEC since expansion) has to play at least 1 Big 6 team from the opposite division ensures parity so that you don't have odd years where for instance Bama plays USC, UK, and Vandy while LSU plays Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee. I can only imagine how much LSU fans would bitch about Birmingham if that happened.
